Evergreen Disposal ?

Happy Friday everyone.

Does anyone out there use Evergreen Disposal for trash pick-up service? I currently use Waste Mgmt and I think I'm paying twice as much as other services and I only get one pick-up per week. Evergreen offered me two pick-ups per week for almost half of what I'm paying.

If not Evergreen, any other recommendations?

Thanks.

 why is this a question?
Are you worried about the quality of handling that your trash will receive?

Make sure you cancel the Waste Management, don't just let your contract expire.

or better yet cancel your trash service and drive to the transfer station and dispose of your trash yourself that way you can save the money you are paying to have it picked up 1x a week.

:yeahthat: you'll become much more aware of how much trash you actually generate.

Ok, smart a$$....I suppose I deserve that. The question is based more in terms of overall reliability. As a company not based in SOMD, I would like to know of anyone uses them and if they've received favorable results.

Isn't there a fee for disposing of your own trash at the transfer station? I think you have to weigh in and weigh out, no?

Transfer station is free for recyclables and for bagged household trash. The landfill is $10 for a truck load and if you have a trailer over 8 feet long, then you pay by the pound.

I think there is a free registration sticker you're supposed to get but I've been here for 25 years and haven't gotten around to getting one yet.
:yeahthat: I'm down to 2 cans every 2 weeks, and most of that is recycle.......

I stretch a plastic grocery bag across the kitchen trash can and just carry that into work

Well I'll be damned. I may just have to go to the transfer station then. We really don't generate too much trash anyway. Two bags per week maybe.

The transfer station and the landfill are in different locations (talking about them on St Andrews Road, assuming St Marys). The transfer station is free, the landfill (which is really a transfer for large, metal, non-recycles) has the fees mentioned above.

Where do you live? There is also a transfer station in Charlotte Hall, and you might just bump into Steny Hoyer dropping his trash off.

Im On 1.
WASTE MANAGEMENT IS A RIP OFF.

Yes I have Evergreen and I pay $19 a month for 2 trash picks up a week and I have the same size bin as a Waste Management bin.

That's $54 every 3 months.

They solicited people on my street like last summer and I immediately signed up. I dont know why people are still with Waste Management.....but the last house on our street finally gave in a few weeks ago...now our entire street is Evergreen. :yahoo:

Good to see Waste Management is not able to rip people off like they us to. There has been several new companies with trash service in the area recently, New Vision has completely taken over my neighborhood of the people who have pickup service and not go to the transfer station. Just yesterday I had postcard from another new company to the area Resque Refuse, you get a 90 gallon can and its $22 a month, with 2x week pickup.

Darn - wish they would put a postcard in my mailbox! $22 a month would be well worth it for us... I hate going to the transfer station with two kids who are complaining for the entire ride about how smelly the trash is (even though it only takes us 10 minutes at the most to get there, and the trash isn't that bad most of the time). Not to mention that sometimes I mean to take it and I forget - then it really does make the garage smell a bit.

I'd pay $22 a month to have someone come pick it up - we looked into waste management last year but hubby and I both agreed that they were a rip-off, especially since they only picked up once a week in our area.

We've never gotten a sticker for the transfer station either - are we supposed to? I don't remember having to show anything...

You do not need a sticker for the transfer stations. I have been to the Ridge, Valley Lee, and St' Andrews and was never asked to show anything. I was told you did, but I never have gotten one myself either and never had any problems.

It's true that no one ever checks, but there is a sign at the St Andrews station that clearly says a sticker is required.

They sometimes check at Charlotte Hall, maybe because we are so close to Charles County, they dont want out of county people dumping there.

Where are you supposed to get the sticker at? I use the St. Andrews transfer station and I always bring a couple of bills along just in case they want proof of residency - but they always just wave. I asked about it a year ago when we first moved out of military housing and all the lady said was 'just go on through' - she didn't even answer.

Don't you have your local address on your drivers liscense?

No I don't - my husband was active duty until a few weeks ago and I have a FL address and license plate. In a month or so I will have a local ID - they give you a couple of months to get that done once you are no longer military (although he is in the reserves so he gets to keep his ID - I am still going to get my local one) We just decided to buy a house when he knew that he was going to get out and we would be staying here.

And since you asked, that reminded me of a question I had (off topic) - can you go to the MVA in Leonardtown to get your registration/plates changed on your car or do you have to go to Waldorf? The little brochure the lady at PSD gave me doesn't have Leonardtown listed but on the MVA website it says Leonardtown is a full service place.
Thanks to whoever answers :howdy:
