Every parent's nightmare

Found out one of the wife of one of the officers I work with had their twin girls 17 weeks early. They have created a site to up-date their progress but it doesn't look good for either baby. One has part of her brain that is dead and the other's kidneys are not functioning well and may not even survive the next few days. Please keep these precious little girls in your thoughts and prayers.

Wow. I just read several of the posts. Having spent time in the NICU with my son I can definitely sympathize. They will be in my thoughts and prayers.:huggy:

My youngest was also in the NICU for about 10 days but luckily, he was one of the healthiest there. I would look around at the babies who weren't so lucky and my heart went out to them and their families. I can't imagine the possibility of losing two babies. :frown:

OMG, I don't think I've read anything so sad in my entire life. I'm sitting here bawling right now. This makes me want to go wake my son up from his nap and hold him non-stop.

No doubt, I will be thinking of this family a lot. Time to pray for an absolute miracle for these two innocent little girls and their family!

I will be praying for them... I thank the Lord everyday for my three healthy children, two of which are twins.

Prayers to the family!

Looks like the end is near (if not already here) :bawl: I was holding out hope that maybe Avery would make it (somehow) and that they would have at least one of their precious babies. Doesn't sound like it though.

Sienna still hasn’t passed any urine and eventually her heart will not be able to handle the toxins that have built up in her body. That is on top of the already serious brain bleeds that she has suffered. Avery’s head continues to swell and we were told that due to the swelling and the fact that her poor brain has suffered so much she likely will never have normal motor functions.

I doubt, though, that I shall post anything to this blog again, barring a miracle. Thank you all for reading and praying for and supporting us.

Yep, very sad. I can't imagine the heart-break of having to give her back to the nurse the final time. I'd hold on forever if I could.

Still thinking of this family. How sad, they've lost one of their little angels. Don't know how, as parents, you get through something like this? My heart goes out to them, still hoping for a miracle for Avery. I'm so very sad again right now, reading this. My heart just hurts for them all.

What puzzles me is why weren't the girls air-lifted to Children's Hospital? I'm sure INOVA Fairfax is a great hospital but I seriously doubt they could compare to Children's.

I am holding out hope that Avery will survive although it seems if she does, she will be seriously handicapped as parts of her brain are dead from the swelling.
