Read the book "Boyd". He was a rogue of sorts but was instrumental in the development of the A-10 and F-16. He trashed the F-15 and F-14 among others. Fast doesn't mean you will win a dogfight! Small and maneuverable is the key. I have always felt that buying another manned fighter is a waste. UAV's is the way to go. Take the $'s from F-35, buy some more F-22's and take the rest and develop UAV's.

I worked 4-midnight at Moody AFB. Dorm was near the runway. Sound asleep at 7:00am when they started taking off. And the Prat & Whitney J-79 burned fuel like crazy! Damn I hated those loud effers.
