I purchased a vehicle through Ford and used their financing, received a letter today welcoming to Bank of America with my purchase. Went to their website to set up the account so I can pay online, after entering the last 4 of my social I was told I "already have a online user ID" .... really? I had a CC with them and closed the account in 1997... called them and after i gave them my address they told me the account was locked because the address didn't match what was on file and wanted to know my account number...what? I gave them the account # on the the letter I received today, nope -they want the CC account # from 1997 WTF ..... the guy pretty much was speechless when I replied after he asked me if I wanted to open an account with them..... LOL, F'n BofA

Ask them to set up a new account

... or do a quick re-fi locally

Wish it worked that simple...

That's what I tried to do but the dude "had" to verify who I was first. Shouldn't have been an issue but my SS# gave tied me to the old account login.... I will try again tomorrow and hopefully get someone different on the phone, calling the guy a F'n jagoff kinda ruined the will to help. lol

I will never, ever do business with BOA again. They sold our mortgage to some obscure company I've never heard of and we lost a bunch of benefits. Sure our monthly payment went down, but I didn't mind paying the extra knowing we had these benefits.

You usually sign paperwork at closing saying they have the right to sell your mortgage to anyone, basically.

I read somewhere that mortgages are almost always resold shortly after settlement.

They waited almost exactly 4 years. I knew it was bound to happen eventually, but I was at least hoping the company they sold it to offered the same extras our mortgage company had.
