Well get on with your bad self and go all stompy foot here.

I may yet find a way.
I've been registered Democrat since the 80's.

You know, I've left other things before - paper subscriptions, services online - and when you leave, they often ask - do you mind if we ask why? Since the "affiliate with another party" thing is all done at the state level - there wasn't any such thing.

Oh well.

Let's just say t like it is, we are headed down the totalitarian slope
Big Tech is in bed with the democrats. Why, well for one, now that they have control over the congress and the administration the don't want to get regulated.

What baffles me is, what do these liberals techies have to gain by supporting a socialist agenda? Democrats have always been the party of regulating everything. Socialism takes thing to a new oppressive level. Why would companies that have thrived from the blessings of capitalism be on the side that would shut the door on capitalism? These companies have everything to lose by supporting people that could very well lead to their own demise.

The only thing I can think of is, they aim to maintain their monopolies, and they know liberals will do all they can to stifle competition. These tech companies and democrats know they can control speech on every level. The one thing they seem to not know is, if conservative voices are erased from the public square, they will go underground. I can think of nothing more dangerous than to force any voice to be out-of-sight-out-of-mind. In today's technological availabilities, conservative will find a way to communicate.

It would of course be simply symbolic at this point - I've always been conservative - but I think to the surprise of many here - I've also always been registered as a Democrat. Originally my reasoning who gives a crap if I disagree with some of their ideas, some of them are good, and the Republicans never want to change anything, even if it's bad or sorely needs changing.

In lieu of recent years and especially this last Congress - be honest even if you ARE a Democrat - they've done nothing - I'm leaving.

Here's my situation - I don't know how to leave. I can't find a place that says, here, officially quit.

How do I leave - officially? If I don't do that, they'll just keep sending me crap and calling my house.

You're a really smart guy, and this post surprises me. My question to you has always been "Despite the fact that they don't represent your views, how can you stay in a party that is so morally and politically corrupt"? This isn't not mean the Republican Party is any better.

It became really easy for me to just register as an independent. There are plenty of parties out there to affiliate yourself with. You can change your party registration online.

I am definitely dropping out of the republican party I just don't want to do it yet.
My Reasoning.: If I drop out now it might look as though I dropped out because of Trump.
The real reason is that i am sick of the Cowardice and double dealing and back stabbing the Republicans did to Trump.

Maybe try this solution - all republicans switch to the democratic party. Then the next primary election we all vote against the incumbents. During the general election we vote for the best person for the job, who is usually the republican.

The big ones expect to get carve-outs, loop-holes and other political favors for the $$$ they throw to the ####bags campaigns.

I've thought about doing that to skew the primary.

I gave you a link to the county Dem party folk. Voice your reason/s for leaving there or maybe pen a letter to the editor of a local, regional or national paper. But seriously the only thing having a declared party affiliation does is allow you to participate in the primary selection process for that party (unless, of course, you are in an open party state).

You're a really smart guy, and this post surprises me.

Thanks, although as anyone who knows me can well attest, I can be colossally dumb about other things.

But - I registered in the 80's. Ok? Remember the days when Democrats and Republicans - largely - could be depended upon to go over to a local pub after their day on the Hill and chat about their battles in the days to come. It wasn't personal. it was like attorneys who have faced each other be good friends outside the court, or sports figures who are friends.

Back then we had guys like Scoop Jackson and the other Reagan Democrats. In the 90's there were the Blue Dogs (who now only have about a dozen left on the Hill - but once had almost 60 members).

We disagreed over things like abortion and military spending - but generally were in agreement with most other things. Bear in mind, it's become fashionable among conservatives and libertarians to say "I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative".

But things really started to go south during Bill's tenure and then really bad towards the end. Once they could justify a man getting blowjobs in the Oval Office while on the PHONE with foreign dignitaries, I'd had about enough. Even the MOST LIBERAL overseas friends who were quick to insult the United States mentioned they were disgusted by such behavior.

For the next twenty years, I just figured it didn't matter what party I was affiliated with, and kept it. Maybe I could vote in the primaries and have some influence.

But the latest turn of events is enraging me, and I can barely get through the day without getting angry over it - they want to "impeach" (a joke - "impeach" means to charge a federal official with the goal of removing him from office - and he leaves in eight days) over "inciting to riot" - a charge that after re-reading his speech - and it is a LONG ONE - and then running searches carefully for certain words - I am utterly unable to find anything indicating incting to riot, especially after it CLEARLY SAID they will go to the Capitol "PEACEFULLY AND PATRIOTICALLY".

But you can bet EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT WILL VOTE TO IMPEACH. EVERY - DAMNED ONE - even though the evidence is not there. You say there's no evidence of fraud? Well there's less for incitement to riot, especially when he said to do it peacefully. The fact that a few hundred out of a quarter million chose to do otherwise is not on him. Because if it is, every Democrat on the Hill is guilty of the same these past seven months.

Yeah, I went there yesterday - didn't see a place to vent, so I left it. Kind of surprised it wasn't brimming with angry mouth-breathers and they were more concerned about local politics, but they really should.

Anyway - I quit yesterday. Maybe the drop in voter rolls will give them pause, but I doubt it.

I registered republican in 1980 when I turned 18. My biggest motivation was the Iran hostage crisis. I had no problem 4 years ago leaving the party. It had nothing to do with Trump. I just got a point where I could no longer see the difference between the R and D. I've left all sorts of things that I enjoyed because it no longer represented my views. I played hockey in HS. One day I was the puck runner after everyone on the line took shots at the goalie. While I was tossing pucks back to everyone, a puck hit me in the calf. I looks over and it was a guy who was my best friend. He thought it was hilarious. We got into it. Coach broke us up. He took the other guy's side. I left the team. I couldn't play for a team where the coach had such a biased view on his players. But, I loved playing hockey.

My principles go way beyond any dedication to a team or party. If that team or party is unapologetic about their position, I am gone.

I loved long distance running - granted, I couldn't run 100 yards NOW, but I ran 12 miles a day, easy. Still can't believe I did that.

I joined track in the spring, and coach told us to run laps while he trained the sprinters, hurdlers and the others. Made it clear we would get ZERO coaching. When we asked why - he said "because I can win meets with just those guys". Translation - don't need you. We all quit. What's the point?

Evidence isn't a requirement - hatred for the opposition is their motivation. And they will weaponize everything at their disposal to destroy the opposition. They weaponized the IRS, FBI, CIA, NSA, DOJ, and impeachment to destroy those they hate. Now, they are using the core means for us to communicate in our private sector, to shut the opposition up - the tech sector.

Impeachment is only a means to send a message - "Don't f##k with us". Every freedom-loving American ought to be sick to their stomachs about what we're seeing democrats intentions. While this has been slowly and quietly building for decades, it's now grown to a point where these despots feel they have been given a mandate to shut down all opposition.

Also - I've told this story before - I thought Reagan was an idiot in 1980. I despised Carter and Anderson was useless.

So - I wrote in Nixon. Being young I figured my "protest" vote would say something.

My Dad was furious. "You just THREW AWAY your vote!". Only time he was angry at me over politics.
Next day on the commuter bus to U of MD, the radio announcer was mentioning the Reagan win and said "and get this folks - in Howard County, there was a WRITE IN VOTE - for Nixon". I smiled and said to the folks around me - "how about that?".

Reagan took some warming up to. I thought he was a bit too dramatic - but like Trump I grew to like him because of one thing -

He got it done. Yeah, the "Mr. Gorbachev" moment is iconic - but at the time I thought oh please.
But it worked. Within a year or so of him leaving office - it was down.

But back then - as adversarial as Tip and Ron were - they could be friends. They were both Irish after all.

I knew hockey wasn't in my future. I wasn't really all that good at it. At that point I had already been playing the guitar about 6 years. I just knew I was going to be a performer. I went to college to study music. Not to toot my horn, but when I got there, I was already the best guitar player there. I could sight read and improvise. They put me in the big band right away. The big band was supplemented with people from the Mike Krotte Band and some members of the Airmen of Note. It was the best experience of my musical life. I got up with the drummer and keyboard player and formed our own jazz combo. These guys were great and I learned so much. Then they left. The next gang of students came in with this really awesome keyboard player. He had a band called Stonehenge, who had Eva Cassidy as their singer. Anyway, we formed another jazz combo. I came to realize these guys were a bunch of potheads and were coming to rehearsal stoned all the time. While their playing was astounding, there was no seriousness to what they were doing. This was for real for me, it was just a means to waste time for them.

This whole thing caused me to quit college. I didn't want to be part of a scene full of drugs. But, I never stopped playing, even to today. But, I was able to walk away from my passion as a profession and just make it a hobby.
