Exactly. All republicans switch to democrat, then vote Hoyer out in the primary. He only gets 60% of the dem votes now so add all the former republican voters and he's gone.
Doubt that would have the impact you think it might. In the 2020 primary only 32,674 votes were cast for all republicans. Steny received 96,664 (his nearest competitor received 40,105) he would still have won by 20+K. In the 2018 primary Steny pulled 72,493 (nearest to him took in 13,681) only 19,757 votes went to the republicans.

I'm not a person who likes to sit around and go, "Well they should do this, and they should do that....." I recognize that they're not going to do that so spending a lot of time railing about what they should do is pointless.

I also recognize that I'm not important in the grand scheme of life, which is why I was surprised to be noticed by the Twitter censorship team. With all the lunacy going on - millions and millions of people spewing all sorts of nonsense - they want to ban me for calling Chelsea Handler a skank? How the hell did that make it on their radar screen??

I have no doubt that the GOP didn't even notice when I changed my voter registration. My dad writes them strongly worded letters on the regular - he's retired so this and golf are his hobbies. They send him begging letters every week claiming that our democracy is under attack and his $10 donation can stop it. He sends the SASE back with a note that they can go eff themselves, going into detail as to why.

It's unlikely they care. Stomping off makes him feel better, but no change will come of it.

Where I'm going with this is yes, we want to make a statement. But it can't just be some rant because they don't give a crap and don't even know we exist as a person. They rake in the big bucks from their corporate cronies and foreign interests - our $10 doesn't mean a hill of chit to them. Now it's become clear that our vote doesn't mean a hill of chit to them. Speaking out against them......meh, you'll just be silenced by the media and Big Tech and become that guy on the corner with a sandwich board.

There is a solution to taking back our power from the overlords, I just don't know what it is yet. What I know it isn't is doing the wouldacouldashoulda thing or sending them strongly worded letters or boycotting the things we need to survive.

The people have one power the overlords DON'T have. Numbers. And more or less - anonymity.
Until recently that also meant, they could vote. I doubt major elections are free anymore.

Sadly, their heavy-handed tactics are inexorably heading to the one response we all know is coming but don't wish to say.

I've done this in most of the primaries for the last 12-15 years. I pick who I most want to vote for, or vote against, in the primary and change my affiliation to vote that ballot. In the general election it doesn't matter what your affiliation is. I can't remember from one election to the next whether I'm registered as an R or a D so wait until I get my sample ballot or go on line and check and change if need be. And they all call you anyway: I get called before every election from both Rs and Ds as well as snail mail - I don't think they ever drop you from their call list once they get your info. I just hang up on all of them equally. lol

I am a bit surprised that some kook hasn't already gone off the reservation.

I am definitely dropping out of the republican party I just don't want to do it yet.
My Reasoning.: If I drop out now it might look as though I dropped out because of Trump.
The real reason is that i am sick of the Cowardice and double dealing and back stabbing the Republicans did to Trump.
The republican party is stuck in a paradigm where they think people actually care if you have some beliefs and principle.
We have become a country where the majority of people have the attention span of a gnat and an even smaller IQ
Who's going to give me free stuff, not just free in the future, but retroactive. Pay off my college loans.

I doubt there are enough republicans in MD to make that happen.
There might be enough in his district, especially in a mid-term. But it still ain't gonna happen.

He needs to d - i - e. Like anytime now, he needs that to happen before he's out of office.

Same with P e l o s i
