FB sucks, and anyone who posts pictures that can be hijacked and used for nefarious purposes, well, what can you say?

Ignorance is no excuse for being violated.

I'm going to put this out there since you're so quick to bite anytime someone brings up Facebook.

When you speak condescendingly of those that choose to use Facebook, it doesn't come off as you are soooooo much smarter than everyone else for rejecting it. It comes off like you're unable to comprehend and navigate the system appropriately therfore you must avoid it altogether.

I don't have any kids so I'm going to come at this from the other side. I'd feel very weird about posting pictures of someone else's child on the internet without their expressed consent and awareness of it. Even a private Facebook page.

^This^ I'm not sure why anyone would think FB "sucks" unless they aren't using it properly and don't have their security settings straight.

What exactly, b23, do you dislike so much about FB? That's a real question because I don't understand your animosity.

You are family that is different. im talking about a stranger say your child's daycare provider.

A daycare provider shouldn't be a stranger.

Anyhoo, if that happened and I didn't want my child's photo used on someone else's page, I'd just ask the daycare provider to remove it.

He also doesn't understand that the forums are social media, so he's an extreme hypocrite for living on the forums yet bashing FB.

Your daycare provider is a stranger?

I get your point, if your point is that their friends (who *are* strangers) will have access to a photo of your child. Is that your concern?

It sounds like there's a specific story about babies, daycare providers, and FB that you should tell us.

Enjoy this adorable meme of a child from the internet that totally isn't mine as you prepare share all the details...unless your name really is Linda, then it would be weird..

I do not post pictures of anyone, adult or otherwise, unless I either ask them or know they don't care because they post pictures of themselves or their children on fb already. If someone doesn't want their child's picture posted online, their wishes should be honored. If you don't know whether they care, you should ask and not assume it is ok.

I hate it when anyone posts my picture on facebook. :coffee:

I think there's more to the story than you're realizing. b23 seemed particularly bitter about pictures being hijacked and used for nefarious purposes. It almost sounds like b23 is a former Fight Club victim

I wonder who you are talking about... and If it happens to be the daycare provider I may be thinking of.... you could back down now.

and if this "said" daycare provider has their "own" fb page ...Im sure the parents have liked it and have no issues with the pictures posted as they get to see what their kids are doing and learning thru out the day.

:yeathat:

if you don't want to participate with FB, that's all you have to do - not participate.

But, the point is, as I understand it, if someone posts a pic of your kid, you lose control of that. Even if they take it down, someone could, easily, have captured the image and, in effect, stolen some of your privacy, your control over your pictures or picture of your kid. Your house. Your car. Whatever.
