ISO a good family doctor in the Lexington Park, Leonardstown area. I currently have one in Lusby but prefer not to keep driving to Calvert Memorial. Would be great if they also believed in holistic meds as well. Also anyone know of a Lyme literate doctor in the area. TIA

Dr.Krishnan specializes in Lyme disease. She works in the Shanti building in Leonardtown and the Bean building in Hollywood.

Med Express, I'm done with the general practice doctors / family doctors
Appointment times mean nothing, they are always running late
The never ending come back in N weeks to follow up (and get your prescription refilled).
If you are sick or injured you can't get in that day to see them.

Hence, Med Express / Urgent Care.
If I need a doctor, I go see the doctor.
If I need routine follow up for a problem, I'll see a qualified specialist for the particular problem, not the specialist and the GP.

ISO a good family doctor ...

Are there really anymore family doctors, as we used to know them? Like Doctor Guyther? Nowadays we are told who our doctor will be, family or otherwise, by insurance companies. Gone are the days of the true family doctor.

True. I simply asked my primary what would he would recommend for arthritus pain. First off, told me I need to make another appointment for that and then suggested pain management.

Yes. I have said many times here, that insurance sucks, now. It is like having no insurance.

Edit. The reason I said that about insurance is that the same thing has happened to me. That the doc wants you/me to come back when it could have been talked about at the time of the original appt.

Hub thinks his old doc is great since we moved and still goes back to him from Mont to Cal. Not sure if that is the doc you are looking for, but here is his info.

It would have taken a big total of 2 minutes with what I asked. Mine is an excellent doctor and used to take a little more personal time with you. My past few visits, he seems rushed and stressed. I think with all the regulations, insurance policies and taking on too many patients, running behind schedule has caused this. Being in the "group" practices has caused this I think. Back when doctors has their own practice and their own offices they could control their own time, now they can't. I started seeing this change about 15 or more years ago. I found then a doctor with his own office and practice, even he called the group practices a cattle call and he wouldn't be part of them. He was one of the few left back then. He retired a couple years ago.

Doctor's don't make the money they used to because of these so called insurances. They now double-book their patients, and are aloted 5 minutes for simple stuff, and only 10 minutes for physicals to include well woman exams. It's a "Treat them, and street them" kind of practice now.
