Farewell to Molly

On Saturday we lost Molly. It was an agonizing decision for my wife and me but she had declined rapidly over the last 3 weeks and we didn't want her to be in pain. A while back she developed a blood disorder where the antibodies were attacking her red blood cells...Vet said that is happens at times in older female dogs...Can happen to younger and males too but not uncommon for older females...She got so bad Friday night that she couldn't even get up on her legs....We had to carry her to the SUV on Saturday morning and she had to be carried in the Vets office...She has not eaten for about 2 weeks and she was falling off to nothing...She was 15 years old and she enjoyed her time with us...We spoiled her and she lived like the princess she was...She was one of the sweetest dogs anyone could find...We had her from a puppy...
About a year and a half ago we got another black lab from Sanchezf...He was only about 6 months old when we got him...He has been moping around all day yesterday looking for her....He is sooooo sad today too...For those of you that have had labs, you know how active a 2YO lab is...He is doing nothing but laying around on his blanket...You can almost see the tears in his eyes...Is there anything I can do for him other than adopting another friend for him...That is out right now because nothing could replace Molly at this time...Bad enough we are in pain over her, now I feel bad for him too...Below are a couple of pictures of them...Molly was showing her age as you can see...Ollie is sad as you can see also....
RIP Molly

Oh how sad. I wish I knew what you can do to help him, hopefully people will come forward with some great ideas. I am so sorry for your loss. :huggy:

I am so very blessed
I'm so sorry that your dear, sweet friend is no longer with you. You'd had her for a long time, and provided her with love and friendship the entire time. Of course, she gave the same thing back to you.

loving life
:huggy:I am sorry for your loss. I feel for you and your dog Ollie. I dread the day I have to do that for my lab. She runs the house and is my child.:flowers:

Time will heal your heart, and you will always have your memories.

Just more attention, hugs, quiet time petting him. He will grieve also along with you and your family. May you all be a comfort to one another. So sorry for your loss.

My Sweetest Boy
I am so sorry...I know exactly how you feel. :huggy:

It will take your younger pup some time to adjust. Bubba (the one we just lost) was physically ill for a few weeks after we lost our 15 year old Golden, Boomer. They'd been pals for a long time. We had just brought home Biscuit a month or so earlier but Bubba didn't take to him right away. Now Biscuit has been acting a little strange since Bubba left us.

I thought about you and your situation and I now know how you all felt when Bubba left....

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how heartbroken you all feel. I also have a 2 yr old black lab and you're right, they don't lay around too much. Ollie does look so sad. :bawl:

I don't know how to make any of you feel any better, nobody could ever really make me feel any better when I've lost beloved pets. I just think that Ollie needs a lot of extra love and attention. If he doesn't normally sleep in bed with you, maybe spoil him with a nap in bed with you so he's not alone while he sleeps for a little while. Our dog loves to sleep in bed with us while we watch the evening news, then off to his own bed he goes. Hang in there! :huggy:

Sorry, but I can't handle that 100lb lab sleepin with me....Oh, he'd love it....He jumps up on the bed and hides his face so we won't see him...Sometimes I have a hard time gettin him off the bed....He has a nice soft blanket right beside the bed....I think he remembers the old days when he was a 10lb puppy sleppin with Sanchezf...Remember that Sanchezf?

I am so sorry for your loss. I've lost 2 Rotties to blood disease and they were both young, it is so sad to see them loose all their energy.

RIP Molly

Hehehe I spoiled him, all 3 of my 100lb labs still sleep with me. Scoot over and make that boy some room, no excuses, he's hurting...
