Farewell to Molly

loving life
Sorry, but I can't handle that 100lb lab sleepin with me....Oh, he'd love it....He jumps up on the bed and hides his face so we won't see him...Sometimes I have a hard time gettin him off the bed....He has a nice soft blanket right beside the bed....I think he remembers the old days when he was a 10lb puppy sleppin with Sanchezf...Remember that Sanchezf?

My 89lb Lab sleeps with us and so does the Shih Tuz, not much room for me, but we manage. I have tried to sleep without them, but that does not work.:cds:

Spoil the little one for awhile, he needs it.:1bdz:

R.I.P. Bobo, We miss you!
On Saturday we lost Molly. It was an agonizing decision for my wife and me but she had declined rapidly over the last 3 weeks and we didn't want her to be in pain. A while back she developed a blood disorder where the antibodies were attacking her red blood cells...Vet said that is happens at times in older female dogs...Can happen to younger and males too but not uncommon for older females...She got so bad Friday night that she couldn't even get up on her legs....We had to carry her to the SUV on Saturday morning and she had to be carried in the Vets office...She has not eaten for about 2 weeks and she was falling off to nothing...She was 15 years old and she enjoyed her time with us...We spoiled her and she lived like the princess she was...She was one of the sweetest dogs anyone could find...We had her from a puppy...
About a year and a half ago we got another black lab from Sanchezf...He was only about 6 months old when we got him...He has been moping around all day yesterday looking for her....He is sooooo sad today too...For those of you that have had labs, you know how active a 2YO lab is...He is doing nothing but laying around on his blanket...You can almost see the tears in his eyes...Is there anything I can do for him other than adopting another friend for him...That is out right now because nothing could replace Molly at this time...Bad enough we are in pain over her, now I feel bad for him too...Below are a couple of pictures of them...Molly was showing her age as you can see...Ollie is sad as you can see also....
RIP Molly

Bless her heart, 15 yo is a long and obvious wonderful life for her. Sorry for your loss.:flowers: RIP Molly..

Oh, common. It would only be for a little nap, temporarily while he's so sad. I know what you mean, though. We don't let our dog actually sleep in bed with us for the night. He's too big and loves to lay against us instead of at the foot of the bed. He knows that he's gonna have to get down right before the tv goes off. It's so funny to watch him - he tries to act like he doesn't hear us and is SO slow walking to the end of the bed, like he's waiting for us to change our minds or something.

I woke up this morning counting 7 dogs in my bed!! Wasn't like that when I fell to sleep, sneaky little boogers....:faint:

Very sorry for your loss. We just went through it a few weeks back and may be going through it again soon. It never gets any easier.

RIP Molly

Sorry for your loss. In 2001 we lost Corky, our terrier mix, to hemalitic anemia which is what you are describing. We took her to the vets here in our area and she sent us immediately to Anne Arundel Emergency Clinic and she died almost as soon as we got there. We didn't even get to say goodbye to her because she lost all bodily functions. She was my dog and she wouldn't even look at me on the way to the clinic and I was just heartbroken at her loss. Last year we lost another mixed dog to a tumor on her heart and inside her heart. That was also a traumatic event because I was so attached to this dog also. We have 2 more that are working their way to being elderly and after that we will need to take a break because I just don't know how much more loss I can take in my life.

Sorry for your loss to you and your family.
Pets are an important part of the family.

I too, have a Molly (Border Collie) waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge.

OMG, 7 dogs?! :killingme

We usually just wake up with a small little cat in our bed. Jake is usually still asleep in his bed, next to hubby's side of the bed like a good boy. I'm kind of surprised that he's never hopped into our bed after we fell asleep.

I'm very sorry you lost your girl... RIP Molly :huggy:

Since you do not want to adopt another dog, maybe you could check into some of the kennels that do doggy daycare. Drop him off one day a week and let him finds some other friends to play with. He does look really sad! Or if there is something he really enjoys doing, car rides or fetch, take a little extra time and get his mind off the loss!
