Feeling Disgusted

Hmmm...I didn't know they could determine cause that fast. Who would be making that determination? (And I'm not being snarky with this -- I don't know how this works and am interested in the process.) Is it a member of the local fire department? A Fire Marshal? An arson investigator?

If it's suspicious in any way, the fire marshal is called immediately. I imagine with a vehicle, it would be easy for him/her to determine the cause fairly quickly.

If someone wanted to destory property belonging to a cop, why would they target a poilce cruiser, which is owned by the public? :coffee:

"The fire originated in the engine compartment, near the dashboard’s electrical components and has been ruled accidental."

Sounds like they were able to quickly and surely determine cause at the scene.

Electrical issues could happen to any of us.

I am glad they ruled it accidental. The department employees were first advised it looked like he was targeted. To answer someone else's question on here why they would torch a patrol car - they keep all of their work info in there. Computers, reports, papers, etc - all of which are tied to the cases they are investigating as well as copies of their tickets. Most don't bring it in every day or night.

Wow. That sure makes me feel secure about citizen's personal information being just one smashed window away from being in the hands of hooligans and thugs. :eyebrow:

Unfortunately I could find out more information from Maryland Judicary with only someone's name then if I broke into a patrol car. I would be more worried about the internet

I would hope the Maryland Judiciary page didn't list the names, address, phone number, place of work for witnesses to crimes, etc. being investigated for upcoming arrest and imprisonment.

The vehicle and all of its contents were destroyed. The estimated loss to the vehicle is $9,000 and $1,000 to the contents.

Wait, whut!? Either the '79 Pinto wasn't worth that much or somebody's getting a really good deal on cop cars! I'll take 15, please!

Due to budget cuts they have to use 30 year old Blue Books.

I know this will probably be just a "rant" to some - I have to say that I am really disgusted by something that happened today. It will come out in the local news soon enough. There are quite a few cop haters on these forums. They are mostly hated for doing their jobs. They are people, humans, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends to others. My daughter is a cop, my husband a former cop turned Agent and I worked for 10 yrs of my life with some of the best cops in South Florida. When there are tragic accidents, robberies, rapes, murder, burglaries, assaults, vandalisms, etc. the first thing people say are "I hope the cops catch them". When children are hurt and people are outraged, they always look to the cops. When there is any type of tragedy, cops are usually the first responders. Yet when they are doing radar and pulling people over, they are arseholes, jerks, bastards, etc. Not that they are trying to keep the streets safer from people, no that doesn't count. When your family or friends are in trouble or need help - why call the cops if you hate them so much? Well, I guess there are some that hate them so much they go as far as destroying something that belongs to them at their own home - not even so much as taking into consideration the danger that could have put the neighbors in. The "innocent bystanders" that live nearby. Really made me sick to think that today is Independence Day. Oh yeah, Happy 4th of July....

Sounds as if someone was jumping to conclusions about foul play, perhaps that's why cops have a bad rep. Many do the same thing with disregard to fair play or the truth.

Hope your 4th got better.

As for the value, after a few years of service, the standard CVPIs are not worth a lot. Didnt cost a lot new, call it in the 20-22K, bare, meaning no lights or sirens or computers. Add in +150K or so of police use, and at auction, they go for pretty cheap, thats why the hood rats like'emso much.

And I thought it was to remind them of their youth, sorta like when I kept my graduation tassel. When they drive with their friends someone rides in the back.

Most of the people driving the old Crown Vics look like they have seen the back seat a time or three

Do you suppose that, when they have to ride in the back seat, they automatically put both hands together behind their backs?
