Since fiberglass garage doors are really popular here in St Marys county I was wondering if anyone has painted theirs? Did the paint hold well? Did you do anything special?

If you're gonna paint one, I'd recommend using a paint made specifically for fiberglass/plastic. Make sure you wash it down first to remove any oils/contaminants.

And don't pressure wash it, 'specially if it's an older door that's been facing the sun. I did. Peeled the laminate right down to the glass fibers.

Tri-sodium phosphate, bleach and water thru a pump sprayer. If it's really dirty you may have to wipe it with a sponge, but this stuff works great. You can find it in the paint section at True Value. Also works great as a siding cleaner.
