Fiesta Cafe~~Mechanicsville

They are the BEST Mex food we have found here in So. MD. We're from Texas, so it's not quite the same, but VERY good- we go there all the time. We started going back when it was a takeout joint with a couple rickety tables! Now we usually have a short wait for a table!
Plus, they are all nice- Temo is the bomb! :)

:eyebrow:

I have to disagree. They are ok but I think Salsa's and La Tol Teca trounces them!

Is it Tex Mex style?

Southern or Central Mexican is different than coastal Mexican or Northern Mexican (Southwest/Tex Mex). Its a very diverse food culture.

No, I don't consider it Tex Mex- more like what we got in Mexico itself. I am not sure about So. or Central, and I've never asked Temo where exactly he's from. Still, we really enjoy it!

Temo is from Mexico City, so his influence is more Central Mexico.

I spend a month in Playa del Carmen every February and the food there is a little different, but Temo's is so much better than any of the chain options near us.

very disappointed

Fiesta Cafe came highly recommended by a friend. As you can see by the posts, others love it, too. We went and expected it to be really good. The food was mediocre(actually pretty bad). I awoke with stomach upset. We came from Texas where the true Tex-Mex lives. Since we have moved to Maryland we have tried every Mexican restaurant that has been suggested. Nothing compares to the Tex-mex in Texas but the best so far has been Salsa's in Leonardtown. Good service and good food. The service and food at Fiesta's was just so disappointing. I think we had the most unhappy waiter ever. I think it broke his arm to bring us extra salsa. Needless to say, we will not be back. Very interesting, the night we went, we ran into some friends from Texas. They had heard the same thing - that it was really good. They didn't like it either and one of them had a stomach upset that night, too! It was a waste of money and time. Cerro Grande is better than Fiesta Cafe. It is way over rated!!!! Don't waste your money - go anywhere but there.

:yay:

Fiesta Cafe does have a good lunch time menu @ a good price. However I would not call them "authentic" and other than lunch I usually dont go there.
