Filling....

I think the dentist messed up my filling. I've never had one before but I don't think it should be hurting so bad weeks later; especially since it never hurt before it was filled. :ohwell: Back to the dentist.

*This has been a news flash from the inner thinkings of Pixie's brain - we now return you to your regularly scheduled threads*

I think the idea here was to move the spotlight from the "First Date" tread.

I got one done and it is really sensitive to cold stuff but it doesn't actually hurt.

That's what my mom said but I didn't listen to her since she's a :drama: . She said the doc probably cracked the tooth when she was drilling and they'd have to do a root canal to save it. It's a baby tooth, yank that bastard. Do they even do root canals on baby teeth?

My husband had a filling that hurt for weeks after. He went back to the dentist and found out that they just needed to grind it down some. The bite was off and that is what caused all the pain/discomfort.

It could be on a nerve, metal heats up quick and freezes fast and if its on the nerve direclty, it could possibly give you these problems.

:yeahthat: I just had my first filling too, they said that if it still hurt to let them know and that it just needed to be filed down some more.

Please, for goodness sake, call the dentist and let him/her know what is going on. How can the dentist help you if you don't talk to him/her? It is probably something simple to correct.

26. There is no permanent tooth so the baby tooth never came out.
I got a little confused when you started talking about a baby tooth. I had two baby teeth that had no permanent tooth to push them out. They were removed when I was in the 8th grade. Both on the top but opposit sides. I've thought about having fake ones put in but I don't think there is enough space to do both.

Mine's my first molar and thus far there are no plans of ever taking it out. The root and tooth are still good. It's a first molar so you can't even see it but if they took it out they'd have to fill the space to keep the other teeth from shifting.

Mine were lateral incisors and my teeh did shift forward. The left side has almost no gap and the right has only half a gap. I don't remember why we did it.

The really odd thing is my mom has two extra lateral incisors in the bottom row.

New here, but I do know a thing or two about dentistry. I used to be an assistant. A few things could be going on...you said it's a baby tooth right? How old are you? They can do root canals on baby teeth. Is the filling silver or white? Silver fillings conduct heat and cold really quickly so that can cause major sensitivity. Another possibility is that since you're unable to chew on that side that the filling may be "high" meaning it's not flush w/ the rest of your bite, and this will cause the teeth around it sore also. Who is your Dr.? I've worked for a few. And i've had a very similar situation on one of my teeth. The cavity it's self never hurt, but once my Dr. fillied it, i couldn't let cold or hot touch it and it hurt to chew too. It was as simple as having the filling drilled out, a desensitzer put in, and then refilled. Haven't had a problem since. give it a few more days then go back if you're still in pain.

Wow...this is really long for someone who's NEVER posted before! Sorry!
