Fire Detector Issue / Question

You said these are on house power with battery backup? By code, they are supposed to be on a separate breaker in breaker box. Make sure the breaker isn't tripped. If it is, you replace the batteries, and they die quickly because there is no line power.

There is usually a little LED on the detector indicating that you have 120V power. If you don't see a light, you might not have power.

OH, just a thought, but probably not applicable...
I bought my dad 2 combo alarms that plug into the wall outlet. One worked fine, the other would die after a week, dead battery. Change the battery, it would die in a week. Turns out that the outlet it was plugged into was connected to a wall switch which he turned off every night.
