Loper said:Are you kidding me! If it can't become an inside pet, KILL it? These are barn cats and get fed catfood twice a day everyday! I don't know what world you live in but feral cats CAN become inside pets! My mother has a feral cat that was trapped on Pax River Base as a kitten years ago and is quite happy to live with her and her two dogs. My sister also has 3 previously feral cats in her home with her other 2 indoor cats and 2 dogs.

the cats you speak of probally still have domestic cat coloring? and certainly you can break a wild cat just like you break a wild horse or an unruly domestic horse it just takes more effort.
Loper said:and your point is? not trying to be offensive or combative! we just want to stop the barn cats from breeding on the farm! nothing more than that! It's a HUGE population that if we can get a discount or something to get them all fixed would be great!
Cats can go from domesticated to feral in very little time.. The cute little tabby someone cuddles with in their bed can be feral in just a matter of weeks if n ot days. They would still look the same, but if you tried to snuggle them I think you'd find a major difference. When Pease AFB closed the base was overrun with feral cats.. a lot of owners when they moved, just opened their doors and let their cats loose. Some stories came out about some feral cats being declawed and yet still survived..Dougstermd said:I do not think barn cats are really feral cats. The feral cats on the base look like small tigers and are just as dangerous

Animals4Life said:Hi there
I have been spaying/neutering barn cats and ferals for about 6 years. The Well Pet Clinic in Lexington Park will work with you as so will Lucky Ones and the Waldorf Well Pet Clinic. These places, especially since you are taking care of and want to do the right thing for the cats and want them back will more then likely work with you on the cost. On the average it is about $25 to $35.00 for a mle cat and $30.00 to $60.00 for a female depending on age and etc. I have all of the contact info and etc. I have also been working with the new rescue group FCR mentioned in one of the postings and they are doing what they can but it is hard and takes alot of time to get grants and etc to try and cover the cost to alter all of the cat. I am almost 100% positive that any of the three low cost clinics I mentioned above would work with you on cost since you are doing the right thing. PM if you want more info or to discuss your needs and etc. Oh and if you have not realized it already expect alot of negative and assanine posts and feedback from this post but please do not let that discourage you!
