Good thing I don't like fruits and vegies. They looked especially fresh when I walked past them but I did not take a close look.huntr1 said:Even the produce sucks there. I have bought produce from Gardiner's Produce (they're the big stand that runs one entire side of the produce section) a number of times, but it never fails to be 1/2 rotten (or more) once you get past the top layer in the bag. I have learned my lesson. Now I only buy my produce from the stalls at the library.
What's even funnier is how many people turn out to buy that crap.BuddyLee said:Ever notice how the one in Mechanicsville is 95% junk.
BuddyLee said:Ever notice how the one in Mechanicsville is 95% junk. I went there last Saturday and got a few small items but the bulk (plump and fresh produce set aside) of the goods (if you want to call them that) were flat out...well...trash. Thoughts? Experiences?
Might try Gem Specialties in Clinton. It's a nut and bolt shop but I think they might be able to get or make what you need.huntr1 said:I need to go to it because I need to find casters for an iron bed. These aren't y our normal casters. Instead of a threaded shaft that goes into a 3/16 hole in the bottom of the leg, I need the type with a 1" or so spring loaded disk that seals the entire bottom of the leg. As far as I know, nobody makes reproduction ones.
I drive past that almost everyday. There are rumors that the farm has been sold, I saw one of the site developement signs up a few months back. Dang stupi MFER'S coming in F'in up anything and everything they can get their F'n hands on. Stupid little SH!T heads need to go F up some other place. Got so bad by my house now I hear F'n Dozers at 10 at night, Going to wind up driving me crazy. See all the land I grew up with gone so some dumb a$$ can have some High dollar house.pixiegirl said:Speaking of produce... Where is the best place to get local produce around the Mechanicsville area? I was very disappointed by that stand on the southbound side of Rt 5 between Charolette Hall and Mechanicsville. I went to buy apples last fall hoping they'd be local and they had stickers from Washington State on them. Boo Hiss... I really like Cherry Hill Farms in PG but I'm not going all the way there anymore.
If you're talking about the one at the library, that is the best place locally. However, both McKays and Food Lion buy a surprising amount of their produce from local farms. Not much in the way of apple orchards locally. In fact, the peach orchard on 231 has shut down.pixiegirl said:Speaking of produce... Never been there. Library is just too convenient for me.pixiegirl said:Not the one at the library the one that's just a little south of that. Wood's Produce I think.
Had I known, I would have given you two sets.huntr1 said:I need to go to it because I need to find casters for an iron bed. These aren't y our normal casters. Nothing wrong with putting things up on blocks.huntr1 said:Need the wheels to raise the bed height a little so I can use a trundle under it.

I go once or twice a year and stroll around. I've picked up a few things there. My favorite find was a mortar and pestle, new. Paid a buck for it.
