capstar will kill the alive fleas on them for that day!!! good way to start out.... and then apply a topical.

remember to never apply a topical right after you wash your pet... it takes SEVERAL days for the fur to really dry.

That's what we did when we found fleas on the dog a few years ago

I would sprinkle borax over your floors and vacuum the next day. Tea tree oil mixed with water will also help. If you want to know how many are in your house, get some plug in night lights and put a bowl of water with a few drops of dish soap below the light.

You can also pay an exterminator, which is what we did to be safe

your vet should have them
Thanks ICit. Do the collars protect the whole body? I ask this because I have been brain washed in to believing Flea Collars aren't all that, except when chopped up, and placed in the vacuum. Would we still use the Advantix II?

nope.... just the collar.

I have had it on 5 of my dogs... and things seem to be good.. even had a few foster cats that had fleas... and they were good.

Eliminating a flea infestation takes a few things, in my experience with them anyway. First treat the pets against fleas. Then flea bomb the house; include the crawlspace unless you have a basement; just remember to thoroughly read the instructions to know how many bombs to use. Pack up the critters; set off the bombs and take "the kids" for a ride. You also have to spray for fleas outside the house; around the foundation, door threshholds and basically all entrances. Someone once told me to treat the yard for fleas; however that's done.

Our price will be between $50 & at the most $54. As I explained to ICit, the book I was looking at was from January. If the price is the same from Jan, they will be about $50- but *could* be as high as $54 if they have raised their prices.

Last year I battled fleas on my boxer for the first time that I ever owned him. Using Frontline used to be enough and than I moved to the sub-tropics where the fleas and creepy things NEVER die. I also am very allergic to the bites so I really have to be on the ball with them. I get massive welts where the fleas bite me.

I got cap star and did about 5 doses over the month and gave him Trifaxis which is flea, dewormer and heartworm preventative. Also got dicohmatous earth and vaccummed the rugs, bombed the house AND vaccummed 3 or 4 times a day. I did the candle in dawn and only had 3 fleas in there after all that. This year it isn't as bad since I was already treating him. I also have no problems giving him a bath in Dawn. He sulks but gets over it.

We checked with the distributor today and they no longer carry the line.
