Uh ok, but the kid was 6! This woman looks to be every bit of 250 pounds and that 6 year old weighed what probably about 60 pounds? To me, that is ridiculous! It would be one thing to sit him in the seat or even a good scolding, hell maybe I would even settle for a smack on the butt but a 250 pound woman getting a 6 year old in a choke hold? Thats ridiculous! And to force him in his seat, wouldn't it have been easier to pick him up and sit him down or even carry him off the bus?
Granted, this littler girl who is in the foster system probably has been through alot without alot of people to stick up for her but if this woman would so forceably put her hand on another child like that, what do you think she is doing to her own? I have scolded other people's kids but and have often though of smacking the crap out of a few but I don't think there would ever be a need to choke a 6 year old!
Now this other child will go back into the foster system to be passed around again, its probably the best thing for her given that mothers temper!

You obviously didn't watch the same video I did. She never had him in a choke hold!! Look at the slide show and you will see she never choked him. Only touched the back of his neck for a split second when pushing him back to his seat. She then pushed him by his shoulders to sit down and he continued to get up so she pushed him back down.sinwagon said:

I did not watch the video last night, I simply read this statement in the article:
On the video, Staton then appears to come forward and, to clear the way, takes the 6-year-old boy by the back of the neck and then puts her arm around it as she wrestles him into his bus seat.
Seeing her grab him by the back of his shoulders and sit him down is not that bad. However had she ever complained to the other parent about their child teasing hers? I know that if anyone came to me, I would tell my daughter a thing or two right in front of the other parent. And would NOT allow it. My daughter has been picked on before and I wanted to slap the child but I didn't, I either went to the parents and if the parents were not receptive, I would tell my daughter to kick their butt! If that doesn't work then maybe take other measures. I have gotten mad when my daughter was punched in the throat by a boy at school and told the principal that when I came to that school I was going to punch the boys mother in the throat. I can see how this mother would have been enraged, we take it personally when our kids are teased and after seeing the video, it is a little bit different than what the article states.
I have been around some unruly children when I was a nanny and I still believe she could have probably pointed in his face and said "Don't you move until my daughter gets off this bus" and stood in front of his seat to block him from getting out of the seat as her daughter went past. I have not seen to many 6 year olds that would fight and kick you to get past after saying that. Then again, I am sure there are a few. We have also taught our kids that if a stranger puts their hands on you, you fight, kick and bite to get away from them. So maybe that is why there was such a struggle.
