FLOTUS: NO MATTER WHO'S ON THE BALLOT, OUR COMMUNITY SHOULD ALWAYS VOTE FOR DEM TICKET

Monday on TV One, a cable channel who's programming is geared for African-American adults, first lady Michelle Obama told Roland Martin the candidate on the ballot and what they say or do should not matter to African-Americans because voting for a straight Democratic ticket best serves their communities.

The first lady said, "Thats my message to voters, this isn't about Barack, It's not about person on that ballot, its about you, and for most of the people we are talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on regardless of who said what or did this, that shouldn't even come into the equation."

Okay, she is a Democrat politician - what's she supposed to say? You surely didn't think she was bi-partisan, did you?

And when they interview people at the rallies for Brown, the main point they all take away is that a vote for Brown is a vote for the first African-American governor of Maryland. And they all say they want to be part of the history that makes that happen. I can't believe people let themselves be quoted by name in the newspaper saying that - they're that stupid. They voted for Obama to make him the first African-American president, they'll vote for Brown the same way. Has absolutely nothing to do with viewpoints, policies, record, vision or anything else of substance. Race first, race last. I guess if the Repubs ran a black presidential candidate against a white Democrat, these voters would find themselves in a real pickle, until the Dem party came out to tell them how to vote. Because they can't think for themselves.

I've never voted straight ticket, and I've been voting since 1980 (I missed registering in '78, my first eligible year).

Primarily, this is because I don't vote for a lot of offices if I don't really know who the candidates are. And even if I KNOW them - as in local elections - I usually don't know enough about the office to make an informed decision. So I leave those alone.

Up until this year - I haven't voted yet - I've voted for Dyson. I am not sure who to vote for, because I am disgusted with both of their negative campaigns.

I've voted for Perot - and my first vote was a write-in for Nixon (against Reagan and Carter, because I didn't like either).

I can understand telling Democrats you should vote Democrat. But on down the ticket, you should vote whom you think is best for the job, and the observation I've made is that the lower it is on the ticket, the less likely national issues have any relevance. If I vote for Sheriff or Judge, I don't think party really factors in.

Personally - I don't think the Democratic Party has done all that much for African Americans. I do think they've created an environment where, for those dependent on government largesse, they need the Democratic Party to keep providing it. But that is not prosperity - it's a cage.

And how is this any different from the daily messaging of the majority of posters on this board, GRUPS????

You all don't give a damn about the person or what they stand for...the only thing you care about is that they have an R after their name. And for some insane reason this makes you an "informed" voter who is better than Mrs. Obama because she thinks people should only vote for folks who have a "D" after their name?

Do you think Laura Bush, Barbara Bush or Nancy Reagan when out and advocated for the "best person" or the person with an "R"???

For the last several weeks, all along Rt 4 in PG Co, there are tons of yellow signs that just say "Vote for the Democrat" along the medians. I guess it didn't matter who that was as long as they were Democrat.

No, but I believe that if they said If you are white you should vote straight Republican there would have been a hugh backlash from the black community.

Damn, and I always thought it was about what is best for the community and the country.

Mrs Obama and Tommy Jo seem to have about the same deficit in Patriotism and common sense.

By the way Tommy I voted for several Democrats, but you can rest assured Steny Hoyer was not one of them, nor was tax and spend Brown.

That is an interesting statement. I wonder what Abe Lincoln would say to Michelle. I find it quite ironic that Obama was sworn in using Lincoln's Bible. It is, also, interesting that Lincoln was a Republican. Obama, also, used MLK's Bible. I think Mr. King would be greatly disappointed with Barry and Michelle. They have been one of the causes of renewed race division in our country.
