Are you letting your children get the flu shots this year? Mainly wondering about the H1N1(Swine flu) shot.

Please list the reasons.

TIA

Type in 'H1N1' in the forum search engine and read the many threads on this issue. I believe you'll find the consensus is many are refusing H1N1 vaccination due to the fact that it was rushed to development, clinical testing only began mid-August, and the 4 manufacturers have been given immunity from repercussion should the vaccine end up doing harm.

NO H1N1 - for the reasons in the second post, because I don't want my kids to be guinea pigs for big pharmaceutical companies, and of course because I said so, because that's my reason, and because I am the mom.

i will be getting the h1n1 due to the fact that I will be flying in december and don't want to chance getting it from breathing stale air for 3hrs while flying.

I will have my teenage kids get both shots. Especially the H1N1. They have never been exposed to that strain, along with everyone else born after 1978......I don't want them to be one of the healthy kids dying if this mutates. The good out weighs the risk of the shot itself. How are you guys going to live with yourselves if your kids die and there was a vaccination available, and free? Poor excuses you'll have. Educate yourself a little besides just reading the crap posted here. Another point...they've been making flu shots for years...I think they have it down. This shot is only different because of the strain, not how it's manufactured. They change it up every year.

And there are many many people that get the seasonal ful and die.
I'm not going by what has been posted on this site. I'm going by the research that I've done. I'm going by what my husband and I have decided to do with our children. Kwilla just posted what I have read in my research.

I have some version of the flu now and my kids won't be getting any flu vaccine. This is the first time I've been sick since childhood; I'm 30. I was up Tuesday night puking my guts up all night, yesterday and today headache and run down feeling. Not bad considering other flu stories I've heard. I believe in letting the body build it's own immunity to things.

How will you feel when your children die or end up sterile or something because you got them the vaccine?

personally I just dont trust the government in the least.

Do you actually think that being sterile is worse than death? Interesting....

Weighing out the risks, I'm going with the shots. I'll be able to live with myself if my kids die, knowing that I was doing everything I could to protect them. Along with all the other immunizations they have gotten.

Government is a non-issue on this matter, I believe we have better lives because of modern medicine. I'm sure alot of people could have been saved in 1918 if this was available to them.

The same people who want antibiotics when they have a virus are probably the same ones not getting these flu shot.

This is still a great country, at least parents still have a choice over what goes into their childrens bodies.

Here's a bit irony for everyone to ponder:
For years it has been said that the government and the FDA take waaay too long to run a drug through clinical trials to get final approval for use on humans. There is always an outcry of "this works, we need to get this out" but then the accusations of too much government oversight come into play.

Now here we have an "impending global pandemic" (note the use of "") and lo and behold the vaccine gets cooked up and out the door in less than one years time. BUT, now nobody wants the vaccine because it was "rushed" through production and clinical trials.

There's been a vacine for years for this, from what I've heard on the news.
