Did they just prescribe antibiotics?

Yep, amoxicillian twice a day and motrin for fever. She had to stay home from school for two days, but you should definitely take him to the doctor first. My oldest daughter actually had all these same symptoms before my youngest did, but when I had her tested at the after hours clinic, her test came back negative and she was feeling better after two nights on nyquil.

My kiddos broke out in a rash around her one eye and all over her forehead yesterday. Gave her benadryl last night and this morning woke up and the rash is still there and swelling around her eye. Have an appointment with the doctor in a hour to see whats up.

Please let us know the outcome... good luck.

Scarlet fever and rheumatic fever are related. Both are caused by strep. These are from WebMD.
What is scarlet fever?

Scarlet fever is a term used for strep throat with a rash. Strep throat is a throat infection caused by a type of streptococcal bacteria.

What Is Rheumatic Fever?

A rare but potentially life-threatening disease, rheumatic fever is a complication of untreated strep throat, caused by bacteria called Group A Streptococcus. The main symptoms -- fever, muscle aches, swollen and painful joints, and in some cases, a red, lattice-like rash -- typically begin one to six weeks after a bout of strep, although in some cases the infection may have been too mild to have been recognized.

Doing better today....

My son is doing much better today. He does have scarlet fever. Started antibiotics today. Within an hour he was running around like nothing ever happened to him. Rash is fading already, and is not as itchy. Thank goodness.

Thanks to all of you for your advice while I was a spaz! Hopefully his brother doesn't get it!

 Good to hear. It's normal to get worried. If you didn't, you wouldn't be a good parent.

Welp for the good news and the bad news.

Good News - She doesnt have a virus or flu.

Bad News - She has poison ivy and its in her blood. Her whole head is swollen pretty much and she is sooo depressed. After doctors appointment it got worse this afternoon and took her to urgent care. Where now she is on a couple medicines. She went home with mom for the night and hopefully she is feeling better in the morning. She went to moms work for a couple hours this afternoon while I ran some errands and her other eye swelled up and she didnt look comfy at all.
