When the flying squirrels are 3-4 weeks old, and held upside down, they present in this manner...the skin flaps are called the patagium

This is why they can glide.

There are a great number of video clips of people and their local flyers..
here is a neat one...how many flyers can you count?
And if you have a lot of tall tress, and close together..you HAVE flyers..you just dont know it!!!

oh my goodness I had no idea they were that tiny and that cute! How incredible! I've got to read more these little critters. They are just too fascinating. I had absolutely no idea!
