Food plot questions...

So this year I want to make a nice food plot around my tree stand for hunting next year...

Though I still need to go ask the lady whose land I'm on, lets skip ahead and say she agrees, and lets me....


I was thinking of making it like a 20x30', or a 30x30' maybe....

When is the best time to start tilling and spreading??

And has anyone else made a plot, and what have you used or had good luck with?

Whatever you plant, make sure you fence it off from the deer until you are almost ready to hunt or you won't have any left when it is time.

Club I know on the shore planted a 5 acre plot of milo. 6' fence all the way around. took the fence down a week before season started. They all got some nice deer that year.

One thing to think about....is your stand in the woods, or next to an open field? The amount of sunlight your plot is going to get really determines which plants you can use.
