If you get one, get the heavy duty one with the bags and cutter in one unit. Only difference is, the one I have, I have to cut the bags with a scissors. Big deal.

The first time I used it for this I just used the "seal" option. Left enough room for the sauce to expand as it froze. This last time I wasn't paying attention and just used it like always and it worked just fine.
You definitely have to pre-freeze the hamburgers or you wind up with large meatballs instead.
