Football Pool - Week 1

We have 4 divisions of mostly 6 players. I'll take new players in until game 1 kick off. I organized the divisions first by how everyone did last year, then alphabetically for those who didn't play last year.

This week I have the Week 1 spread posted early, but expect it to be posted Tuesday or Wednesday each week after week 1. Picks this week are due by Thursday's kick off on Sept 9th. Remember, two late picks for the season is elimination. Also, if I make a mistake in standings or picks, please post it or pm it to me. I want it to be accurate in fairness to all. And if you have questions, please post or pm them.

Really? That's one of the easiest for me.

The Jets have a lot of hype for a 9-7 team. Ravens will beat these guys no problem.

Saints -4.5 Vikings - Great match-up

Titans -6.5 Raiders - Titans win but let's see what the Raiduh's are about this season.

Patriots -4.5 Bengals - Might be the game of the week.

Texans 2.5 Colts - Texans might surprise the Colts for once.

Steelers 2.5 Falcons - Great match-up with Big Ben out.

Giants -7 Panthers - Two teams who were good recently looking to rebound.

Eagles 2.5 Packers - Packers should win but it will be interesting to see how Green Bay's defense holds up after that Arizona playoff game. I'll also be paying close attention to the Iggles offense.

Rams 4 Cardinals - A snoozer for many but this will be the debut of the new-look Cardinals and Rams. New QB's, could be interesting.

Redskins 3.5 Cowboys - Always a kooky affair.

Jets -2.5 Ravens - Defensive battle.

Always love that "and a half" in the line, eh? Some of them are really close, especially for being the first game of the season.

Man, I can't wait for this week to begin.

And something about that shift in outside air temps, cooling down to football season. Been looking forward to it for a while.

wow i couldn't disagree more....the Jets picked it up and went deep into the playoffs...they have a tremendous running game and a great defense..the two things that give you the best chance to win football games...

Joey eyebrows hasn't proven he can perform consistently against a preimere defense....so as long as Sanchez doesn't give it away they have a good chance to go deep...but still my guts saying Ratbirds...we'll see.

* i totally just talked myself out of the Raves and changed to Jets...that will bite me i'm sure...

when are we gonna know draft order?

The Jets running game will be good, but not as good as last year. Alan Faneca left, remember?

I see their defense as good, not great. If they had a great defense, they'd have been in the Superbowl a season ago.

No, the thing that gives you the best chance to win is a QB. The Jets don't have that in Sanchez...not yet at least.

The Jets are a decent team but they're raw. Baltimore will own them.

One thing I will say for those who haven't been in this. Since your picks are based upon a spread, everyone's average pick rates will end up being somewhere around 50% (plus or minus 10% or so) by the end of the season. Your moneymaker in this pool IS your five point pick every week. This will determine who places highest at the end of the season, and who gets into the playoffs.
