We have a beautiful stray cat coming around the house. He is obviously hungry and eats any cereal scraps we put out for the birds. But he appears completely wild and runs away the second he sees us. I intend to put out cat food for him beginning this week and really want him to start to trust us so we can possibly take care of him.

Any suggestions on how to not intimidate him so much? Or is it just going to take time to let him realize we are trying to help him? OR is it a lost cause?

I had a kitty growing up and this one looks just like mine. I want him to like me. :lmao:

That is very sweet of you! I've had cats all my life, including lots of strays. In my opinion it will just take some time. Giving him food is a great start. I'm sure the kitty will warm up quickly. Good luck!

Yes, we had a couple of boxes of Chex that we put out on the deck for the birds. We were surprised the cat started eating it. Hence the reason we think he is near starving.

she cuts the fat off her cereal and feeds it to the feral cats so they can breed.

Why are you so mean aps? But that does sound funny....The cat will warm up once it learns to trust you.

If I was able to befriend the cat, I'd be making sure it wasn't making any babies. I'm not interested in helping the stray cat popuation breed.
:yay: It does sound like the little guy is really hungry, as untrusting as it is w/people to come on your deck and eat cereal. Good luck!

If you want to attempt to tame a wild cat, trap it and vet it, THEN feed it.

To the kind karma giver- no I didn't know there was a cat forum. Obviously I would have posted there if I did.

**the bigger the bully they are on forums, the more of a chicken shiat they are in real life**

Ya, catch it and take it to the doc to get the operation..
or call the animal warden..sound like it is feral.
Might be eating more at your feeder than just ceral..might be getting birds too.

Just a warning. Stray cats are like wet gremlins. If you feed one, soon you will feed twenty-one, and most of them will have surly attitudes.
