It's pretty crappy nutritionally.

You can actually make something similar and just as quick with fresh items.

I love the site Allrecipes.com. If you do an "ingredients" search using pasta, chicken and tomatoes...you can come up with some really nice dishes. Same with saugage, pasta, tomatoes, etc. Of course, it works with any ingredients or you can search for specific recipes.

15 minutes from box to gut is hard to beat.

If I remember correctly, aren't they just a handful of noodles with a sauce packet? Like mac n' cheese, only mac, beef n' cheese? Yet, you pay more - and add the beef?

Or, are the noodles somehow "cooked" magically before, then factory dried and preserved with the rest of the fixins to help create the nutritious meal?

I have no idea about the noodles. It is noodles and some packet of mystery powder that turns into sauce when you add the required liquid as per the directions.

It cost a buck a box

Noodles, ground beef and a can of cream of mushroom. A lot less crap in your body although there's not much to it nutritionally.

hmmmmmm
I succumbed to a tight schedule and bought a couple boxes. Had one last night. I feel so inadequate.

and the difference between H'burger Helper and mac & cheese is  I sometimes make what I call ghetto casserole, mac & cheese, tuna, pease, cheese and bread crumbs on top, they love it.

We had the beef stroken-off and I added peas

With work, football and everything else I needed to streamline the feeding ritual for when we roll into Casa de la Pete at 8:15.

:killingme Thats what I call it. I have stuff in the freezer just for that reason. Do you have a crock pot? You know its almost that time of year for the crock pot chilli, soup, stews, etc. I have a book call Weeknight Survival Cookbook , helpful if you have a busy work week.

Just open a can of green beans and some apple sauce on the side...how easy is that...and most kids do like it...it's better then giving them Fast Food Junk.

WDF. So worth the wait.
Hockey pucks?

Never heard of "whomp" biscuits. But, then, there's a lot of things I never heard of. Are those anything like drop biscuits?

I believe whomp biscuits are made by removing paper from cardboard tube and whomping said tube against the counter.

Is that forumese? I grew up hearing them called that.

I can hear my grandpa's complaining voice everytime I think of whomp biscuits.

I occassionally buy those bags of rice or noodles made by Lipton. When they're on sale, you can get them rather cheap. They make all kinds of different flavors.

The "Mexican" rice flavor is my grandson's favorite. Just use about 3/4 pound of browned ground beef to each bag.

Quick, easy, and inexpensive.

They are good. I use them for mixing withground beef for stuffed peppers.
