Anyone had any luck as of yet?

I went out Saturday morning, seen 4 does.. while staring at 3 walk off in the distance, the 4th biatch walked right up on me to my left, and when I turned back and noticed....it was to late, she seen me turn...and of course, my BOW was sitting right across the bar on my stand

So I didnt get a shot....

But, going to put some more corn out tonight, and then go again hopefully Friday morning... but definitely Friday afternoon Saturday morning, and maybe Saturday night....

I have not been hunting for years now, since I was in School. I tried to pull back my uncles bow and I can not. SInce I broke my arm its still screwed up I still can not pick it up all the way over my head, still not working enough to hold the bow up, I can't even hold my shotgun steady.

I had to lower my bow down for right now due to my wrist still not being fully healed. Which blows. But if the deer come into my corn piles, it's still not an issues, but it when I want to take the longer shots (45yds +) where it could make a difference, but I only have about 1 open lane to where I can shoot that far, so I doubt it will come into play right now :yay:

During the rutt, maybe...but right now, I dont think so

Had a buck standing in my parking lot what I came into work tonight. He was a little one though, only 4 points.

So he was a young fella... Alot of people who hunt, dont know what exactly they are shooting for. The see antlers, and automatically think, its time to fire... me personally, I'm like the guys on tv, let them mature a few years.. but sometimes, it's hard to pass up on an un-mature 6-10 pointers. though he could grow into a VERY big 10-12, possibly more....

Some of the people on base who hunt are like that. Someone registered at the game check station a 90 lb. "button buck", Fishin Guy asked if he had shaved the spots off before he brought it in.

Put it out where you can see it. Every time you walk by it pick it up and try pulling it back. Keep doing this for a while and it will come to you. I hadn't tried to pull my bow for several years. When I put it away I cranked it down to take some tention off. Now the first time I picked it up in about 4 years and I couldn't pull it back. It takes time to work those muscles back into shape. I won't use my bow this year because I was nowhere near ready. Next year those deer better watch out!

You can probably get a permit to use a crossbow.

Was it 90lb dressed?

I mean, the 4 does I seen, 2 were pretty big does, the other 2 were medium-smaller does...

I don't think so, I didn't actually see it. Fishin guy showed me the log at the game check station. I'm from Texas, so all the deer here (on base at least) look small to me.

Thats 80% of hunters mantality(sp)... but it can get out of hand... I can understand a button buck for your first buck or deer, which the majority of button bucks are considered does.... but after that, its not worth it anymore.

You on PAX or in Texas?

I know Texas has some big boys out there... I would like to hunt Texas one year, and a few other states...

But 90lb deer...undressed...thats just sad :boo:

That's easy, go buy a cross bow, and go get the license, and your set :yay:

No permit needed, not that I was told.

Yes you do need a permit for to hunt with a cross bow in MD! You can obtain the permit from DNR and your doctor has to sign off on it.
