In bringing murder charges against Officer Aaron Dean in the slaying of Atatiana Jefferson, police released an arrest warrant Tuesday quoting the victim's 8-year-old nephew as saying Jefferson had pulled out a gun after hearing suspicious noises behind her house.

Black politicians and others criticized the police and the media for bringing up Jefferson's weapon, angrily accusing the department of trying to deflect blame onto an innocent victim. "The Fort Worth Police Department is going about the task of providing a defense for this officer," said Lee Merritt, an attorney for the Jefferson family.

Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus himself declared there was "absolutely no excuse" for the killing and said Jefferson behaved as any Texas homeowner would have if he or she had heard a prowler. It wasn't clear from the warrant whether Dean even saw her weapon through the glass.

And this is the correct response, not that crap piece by National Review. Cop does something stupid resulting in an innocent life lost, charge them with murder and throw 'em in the pokey. (And then stop hiring bad cops)

She was in her home and had every right to arm herself when she heard people sneaking around outside.
I feel the same way about people whose doors are knocked down in the early hours and react by arming themselves.
Just yelling police and breaking down people's doors then shooting people for having a weapon is wrong.

In this case my thoughts are what is wrong here.
Is the officer who shot this woman badly trained?
Is he so frightened that he shoots as soon as he see's the gun
Is he a product of loosened hiring standards?
Is he just a trigger happy moron?

Whatever--------------he was in the wrong job and got by the job interview some way.
