Ladies, once a guy lets himself get into the friend zone is there any way for him to get back out? As in, have you ever had (or even heard of) a guy friend with whom you were strictly platonic who later became a romantic interest? And by guy friend I mean a guy you hang out with, call on the phone, ask for advice about other men - like that, a real friend.

I know it happens in the movies and on TV but I've never seen that play out IRL. Once you go into the friend zone that's it. Like that episode of Scrubs where the guy says that after a relationship turning point opportunity, you have 48 hours to make a move or you are relegated to the friend zone for all eternity.

Before I was married...one of my BEST friends was a guy... somehow it turned into more for a brief period and it ruined our friendship. :coffee:

:nono: Don't ever sleep with your best friend... makes things awkward. :ohwell:

I know you adressed it to the ladies but I have been in an out of the zone a couple of different times with a couple of different women. It takes both to be mature and rational - one I even married.

Girl's dad was a friend for 8 or so years. I grew up with him and never "liked" him in a relationship way, and he never thought about me that way either. One summer, well... we just started dating.

There's a reason a guy is in my friend zone. Once there they don't come out.

Yep. We were aquaintances for 5 or 6 years then because great friends for a few years. We got a little romantic 3 years ago in a rebound sort of fashion, but decided to remain just platonic. I knew that he "liked" me, but no feelings were ever discussed. We carried on with our lives and stayed great friends. He listened every time that I whined about men. He took me out whenever I needed a night out. But, for the 2 years, I didn't touch him. I meant Mr. FakeAssWonderful wasted awhile with him. When I booted Mr. FakeAssWonderful, he became my shoulder to cry on again. We crossed the line again and I was informed of his feelings. We've been romantic for almost a year now and I am so glad that we crossed that line.
