Frying Chicken

I have chicken pieces soaking in buttermilk and want to make flavorful fried chicken for dinner tonight. Seems my chicken frying skills always produce beautiful but bland fried chicken. Any suggestions, tips or tricks on seasonings, breading and cooking?

The Food Network chefs say that most home cooks don't use enough salt in their recipes, so that's probably what it is. You can also empty a packet or two of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix into the flour when you coat the chicken.

Mmmm MMMMM! I love fried chicken!!!

Thank you so much. I had not thought of the good seasons mix - I use it all the time in other stuff. That is what it will be!

Look up how to brine meat. It's not going to help you this time, but for the next time.

I don't use the same spices every time. Last go around, I dumped a liberal portion of Montreal Chicken Seasoning into the flour as seasoning and it came out excellent. Other times I use whatever strikes my fancy then mix and match: Old Bay, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, poultry seasoning, cajun pepper, etc.
