Full Moon

It's cold tonight but i gave it one more try. Went in "live view" and magnified X10 and with the tripod locked tight i could still see the moon moving. I think this is the moon moving in the sky, not the camera on the tripod since it is a fairly heavy duty unit. The pictures did turn out better then last night. For a few i also upped the ISO to 200 which let me get the shutter speed up to 400. This was still at 300mm and a 75% crop.

Nice. I don't think it's the moon moving (contrary to my previous post....) Your shutter speed of 400 will arrest that little bit of motion.

Who's lens are you using? The lens it self may be "soft" and it shows up at high magnifications.

Hey CRF, that looks much better. If you are using that 70-300 4-5.6 it probably is a little soft. The funny thing is, the right side of the moon is pretty sharp on that edge. What aperture where you at?

Yeah, its my 70-300 4-5.6. It's a good lens for the price but it shows it's faults when out at full zoom. I noticed that the right side was sharper then the left as well. Was at F8 so i don't think that would have caused it.

I put at 70-200 2.8 L lens a 2X extender on my christmas list.
