Full Semi-Automatic

"High capacity". What the heck does that really mean? "Assault rifle". Add that word "assault" to rifle and it suddenly become more scary. "Military-style weapon". Now that's really scary that we - the people - are armed with military-style firearms. Now, I just became a really scary person now that someone knows I'm armed like someone in the military.

NOW, I own a fully-semi-automatic, military-style, high-capacity, assault rifle. I'm scary and dangerous, even though I'm still the same guy you knew before you knew I owned this very scary gun. Anyone who honestly knows CNN knows they have an anti-gun agenda. They will put a "firearms expert" on that they know will say what they need to make guns more scary than before. And who better than a "firearms expert"?

So you think that general intentionally used the term ‘full semi automatic’ because he was be8ng a shill for gun grabbers?
Did you watch the video?

You are free to your interpretation, but it looked to me like he forgot he was t holding a selective fire version and corrected himself when he realized it was semi only. Again, it doesn’t matter. The only people getting worked up about it are on the right. I havent seen anyone calling for bans of ‘full semiauto rifles’.

Yes, I did watch it. Right out of the gait, Tuchman made sure he called it a semi-automatic, assault-style rifle. Not only is it semi-automatic, but it's an "assault-style" rifle. WTF is "assault-style" anyway? Right after that the general talked about how it looked. So, it's "assault-style" and scary looking because it looks like a rifle the military uses.

"A lot of people will buy this because it's cool, and they want to look like soldiers". Well #1) BULL#### and #2) so f####ing what! What damn business is it of the general how I want to look? Most soldiers get tattoos because it looks cool.

They talked about how lethal the AR is. YES! Lethal. Isn't that the intent when someone breaks into your home and wants to harm you? I want something that will do the job.

I didn't see anywhere in the video where he corrected himself. "If you're a gun collector or a gun aficionado, and you want an AR-15, you can certainly buy one, and you should be able to buy one". Well f-you general, I'm not a collector or aficionado and I feel it's an appropriate firearm for my protection and, if that terrible day should ever come, the defense of my country. What this is about to me is... I'm fed up with people telling me what's best for me to protect myself. I'm fed up with people telling me what words I can and can't use. I'm fed up with people that think they know better how to raise my kids. This country has completely lost the meaning of 'liberty' and what it takes to protect it.

the general didn’t do that. In fact he is against gun bans.

You are losing the war if you are getting hung up on terminology. Particularly since it was a flub.
The reality is that a lot of people buy ARs for the cool factor. So what, same can be said for lots of non-AR guns.

So all of YOUR outrage was baseless as I said originally.

yeah outrage ...
sure ok, whatever ....

I love when you debunk your own stupid threads

Hmm don't see anything 'debunked' ....

yeah the 'expert' circled back around and clarified his statement ... something CNN should have done at the time

- what do you mean 'full semi-automatic'

but hey, continue on with your opinion

In the 'demagoguery 102' class they were all taught that if they call it an 'assault rifle', anyone with a modicum of firearms knowledge will be able to prove them wrong and they lose a point in the discussion. So they tweaked the term into 'assault style' which they can mold into anything they want it to be without raising unneccessary opposition from the Fudds.

The general was clear he is okay with people buying these guns if they are collectors. No where in this entire interview did this general say anything about it being our 2nd amendment right to buy these firearms. He did everything to fall short of saying 'there's no reason for any citizen to own one of these weapons'. So, words mean something when certain facts are left out.

Collectors or aficionados, and he didn’t define either. That’s pretty much anybody who wants one.

aficionado: a person who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about an activity, subject, or pastime.

I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable, but I'm certainly not enthusiastic about buying guns. So, neither collector nor aficionado fit me at all. And I would imagine it doesn't fit most people who buy them. The general limited ownership to a very narrow group of people, asserting that this is not a weapon people should generally own. And that was the whole point of the CNN segment; to disparage and discourage ownership of this firearm.

You would be plenty enthusiastic if the fed said you couldn’t buy one. :yay:
Yup. Try to find a bump stock.
Trump is CURRENTLY, as in live, saying that he will EO bumpstocks into nonexistent

And I'm against the ban against bump stocks. Not because I think it's a useful addition to an AR, but because I don't believe in bans on things. 'Things' are not the problem.

I wouldn't be enthusiastic about a ban, not on any particular gun, but a ban in general. I don't think it's the role of government to ban things as a guise to protect us. They banned automatic weapons and look at where we are. Now people are going after semi-auto rifles. When that fails to stop the madness, the gun-grabbers will be going after the next killing machine.

You have to know this isn't about any particular firearm; this is about a small group of people in this country believing the 2nd amendment is outdated and needs to be repealed; giving the government full power to ban citizens from keeping and bearing any firearm.

Bad day today, I told my 82 year old Parkinson's inflicted retired Master Chief Frogman dad today that it's time his firearms go to my house... He can't fire them anymore, so it's time to lock them up in a vault until his grandson is older. To many people in and out of his house with hospice starting soon and occasionally now nurses and therapy people coming and going.. He pretty much told me to #### myself when I tried to talk to him..
This afternoon when my son and I were done doing the necessary Pedro & Jesus outdoor yard work that we have done the last few days he told me to take them and give them to my son at the appropriate time..
It sucks to see your Superman wither away to 105 lbs....
