I walked into my bathroom and my male cat is squatting over the toilet peeing. I thought I was imagining it but I heard it and then he started scratching as if he were covering something in a litter box. Does anyone else have a cat that does this?

My grandparents had a cat that used the toilet. They never trained him to do it. They wish they could have trained him to flush, though!
With 3 indoor cats, the thought of not having litter boxes sounds wonderful!

I was just wondering how I could teach him to flush.

my cat

My cat Herman loves to flush the toilet. He taught my kitten Willow to do the same. Too bad I can't teach them to use the toilet as well.

we should clone him. I'd love it if mine would pee and poop in the toilet. Just think, no litter boxes. Wow!

My ex bf's cat did that. He'd be at work and I'd be home and I'd hear someone using the bathroom/toilet peeing. I'd think maybe he was home, then if it wasn't him WHO is using the bathroom :jameo: :jameo: It was his cat. He'd picked up on how to do it all on his own. Of course he never did it when BF would be home so I just looked  After while he was able to see and hear it for himself too  It's a cool trick but sometimes they hit the seat instead :jet:

A great litter box that cleans itself

And to think, the other day I was looking at this 400 dollar litter box.:killingme

CatGenie - The World's Only Self-Flushing, Self Washing Cat Box
Forget the cat genie! Use the Simple Clean. I love it! Just uses grocery bags, and a good clay clumping litter. It is always rotating and my guys love it! I only have to totally empty the litter about every two or three weeks.

It's a lot less expensive. They don't even notice the rotating.

It's available at Drs Foster Smith, but not at Petco or Petsmart. The rotating one they have is absolutely useless. It broke the first time I used it. Wasted money.

There is a follow up to this story, I walked into my bathroom last week and found the little kitty, my newest, on the toilet, I almost fell down laughing. I guess the older cat has taught him. I wish all 4 would do it, that would really save on cat litter and cleaning the cat box.

My cats don't but you can actually toilet train a cat.

I think there is a clear plastic litter box that fits over you toilet. You gradually reduce the litter till it's gone. Remove the box and the stupid cat still goes in the same place.
