Galaxy S3 reviews

Glad you started this, I was going to start something next week, I'm due for an upgrade Aug 3rd...

The guy(manager) at the Verizon store next to Matress/Starbucks praised it fairly highly. Said battery life was 2nd only to the Droid Razr Maxx.. And there was 1 feature his Nexus? had he wished the Galaxy had, and that was something with creating folders... I guess, if you slide and APP ontop another APP on the Nexus, it automatically creates the folder, but on the Galaxy you have to create the folder first, then slide APPS into the folder...

I can live with that

Heres to hoping a few people chime in :buddies:

I love love love love love my Galaxy S3. I hate technology and am always the last to embrace it. You can ask my husband. He usually has to fight me to upgrade me to anything new.

It's extremely intuitive and does everything but the laundry - however, you can probably program it to do so with the little swipe pads. I haven't quite figured that thing out yet.

Likes -
1) Bumping phones to share things like pictures and files
2) Kies Air (app) - to share things with my home network
3) Sound is fantastic - so Pandora is on all the time
4) Pictures are great
5) It's quick - super quick - quick to access files, open folders, get online and do a search
6) The battery lasts all day - even while running Pandora all day, reading email and going online at times. I was at the SLVFD concert on Sunday - had my phone on all day - recorded video, took pictures, sent texts, goofed off on FB, used navigation, and more and didn't kill my battery until around 11pm. I still didn't kill it, it just told me it was going to die soon - but it was still working at midnight.
There's tons more, but it's so easy to operate that once I adjusted to some of the quirks I really love this thing. I actually wish I had not bought a tablet and just had the phone.

Dislikes -
1) Me and S Voice hate each other. I can get Google Voice to cooperate with no problems (on my tablet) but S-Voice hates me and my accent. Which is a shame because it's features are fantastic. My husband said it will improve but I doubt it.
2) Apps - many apps don't work on this version of Andoid - yet. My husband says they are updating the apps, but some of the things I want I can't get or they don't operate as well. Of course I have a similiar problem with my tablet. One runs Ice Cream Sandwich and the other Jellybean and I guess the apps on the market haven't kept up with the tech.

Thank goodness for the battery life like that, I get so tired of needing a charger at work, in my truck, and at my house. I believe the battery in my phone is a 1350, and the Galazy is a 27 or 29 something... the Maxx has a 30/31 something...

And where do they get their names from  Gingerbread (which my D2 has), Jellybean, Ice Cream

if it has the latest version of android it should be able to do that

Hmmm, one reason I was leaning towards the Razr Maxx HD was the fact that it's pretty sure to get the Maxxs battery. After talking to a few people, it seems the S3s battery life is sufficient that that's not a concern. Only issue now is the durability factor. I am tough on phones, and hate outer cases. My original droid has the battle scrs to prove it. It's showing bare metal in about 5-6 places around the screen bezel. Gorilla Glass has lived up to its name, no marks after all this hard use, though.

If the S3 feels sturdy enough.I might jump. Even if it doesnt, if the HD doesnt have NFC, I might just jump to the S3 anyway.

I am glad this thread was posted.

We were just in verizon last night, my dad needs an upgrade. He was all set to get the thunderbolt. And after just touching the Galaxy 3S the nexus and MAXX he can't decide.

I wish I hadn't gone, because now I have to wait till May in order to upgrade!!

It has ICS but Samsung changed the process with their Touchwiz interface. That being said, I love this phone. The phone iteself isnt that much bigger than the average 4" phone, it just uses more real estate to maximize the screen size. The interface is fast, smooth and very fluid. I got the Pebble Blue 32GB version with an added 32GB Micro SD card so storage should not be an issue. The speaker is loud and clear for music playback. Videos look beautiful and are comfortable to watch on the 4.8" screen. The pop out video feature is a fun addon as well. Battery life is great even for the power user like me. I get a full day of heavy usage and still have around 30% charge when I put it on the charger at around 11pm. The 4G connection is awesome and is faster than my home WiFi connection. It is built solid and is incredibly thin. I really can't think of one thing that I don't like about this phone.

T-bolt the battery SUCKS.. I had to get the battery upgrade which makes the phone HUUUUUUGE..

I still plug in at work most days, all day, and it still barely (sometimes doesn't) make it to morning. It's plugged in more than not.

I'm still getting used to the size of the phone and the physical Home button. The battery does last me the whole day but not by much. That's probably because I'm using the phone a lot more than I have been. I've did the phone touch transfer with someone's HTC One X and it worked pretty easy. We transfered contacts. I found out that if I shake the phone, it will update weather and sync accounts.

Well I was able to convince to not go with the thunderbolt.

Now he needs to figure out if it will be Galaxy, Nexus or the MAXX

Well, I have the Galaxy SIII phone and the Nexus 7 tablet. I got them both within days of each other (pre-ordered). Now I wish I hadn't spent the money on the Nexus 7 tablet and consider it a waste when the Galaxy does everything and more than the tablet and has a longer lasting battery.

Don't know if it helps or not, but I do think your dad will like the Galaxy.

Oh I think he will too. But I am going to convince him he needs the Nexus (phone not tablet) And save the Galaxy for myself

Anybody with a S3 willing to come to my house and see if their phone works? My Incredible has HORRIBLE reception at my house and I don't want to replace it with another phone that does as bad.

I have this and hate it. Biggest POS ever! Sloooow, always freezes up, half the time I can't connect to the internet, and the power connector part always have troubles. I've had 3 phones in 7 months, all Thunderbolts. It was recommended by one of the Verizon guys over the iPhone. Ppphhhff!
