Hmmmm....which would I rather do, sell gasoline for over $2.00 a gallon and make $0.10 or sell a cup of coffee for $1.29 and make $1.00 profit??? Wake up, they sell more than gas, that's what pays the bills.

I almost always buy fuel at Wawa, Sheetz and even Safeway. I have not noticed a drop in performance of any of my vehicles. Matter of fact, when I worked in Newington, VA, next to the fuel terminals off of I-95, I regularly saw Southern Maryland Oil tankers being loaded at the Exxon terminal there, and SMO then was primarily a Texaco supplier.

I don't like to purchase gas from low-grade locations such as Sheetz, Wawa, etc. I prefer the quality of the more expensive, XOM locations instead. :ohwell: It really does make a difference in your vehicle's performance. :yay:
That only applies to the Premium grades, all regular unleaded comes from the same place. A high volume station should be the safest place to buy regular fuel.

First off the gas at sheetz is the same as the gas at any other station. There are only a dozen or so refineries in the US and it would be more expensive to make a lower quality of gas for them to sell than it would to just sell them the same gas that everyone else buys. If you actually believe one brand performs better than another you probably believe in those oil additives that are sold on infomercials.

Secondly when I moved here 5 years ago there were no sheetz or wawa and I immediately noticed how much more gas cost here than in west virginia. Within a month or two I crossed the harry nice bridge and said damn over here gas is atleast 25 cents cheaper than in lexington park. Not too much time passed and a sheetz showed up in california and their gas prices were on par with the gas across the potomic river bridge and all of a sudden these "local" stations started reducing their prices. Wake up the local gas station owners were taking you for all that they could and now they can't do that boo hoo.

Just because the stations were locally owned does not mean that they are not picking your pocket. They had a nice racket going for years and now their time is over. Personally I dont care if its some guy in New York or some guy in Lexington Park if they are overcharging for something I care about the product and the price not whether or not they gave some cash to put a sign on a fence at the local softball field.

I answered the phone at Wawa the other day and it turned out to be someone from CBS (I believe) in New York who wanted to interview our manager about our "extremely low gas prices". St. Mary's has it pretty good when it comes to gasoline prices (currently $1.95 a gallon at most Wawa and Sheetz stores). Calvert, however, has prices ranging from $2.14 at the Lusby Fastop to $2.27 at the Lusby Sunoco. Even at $2.27 I believe we're still below the national average. Does anyone know how much gas is in California these days?

Just got back from a trip down south. The gasoline prices here are identical to the prices in King George and Caroline counties VA. The prices in NC and SC are a bit lower, paid 1.84 in SC the other day.

Sorry, I meant $2.17/gal.

Didn't fill up, but saw $2.39 a gallon at a station in Philly last week. People were shocked when I told them it was $1.89 in some spots in Southern Maryland.

From what I've been told, gas stations can be fined up to 100,000 dollars if they sell their gasoline even one cent below what they bought it for. :ohwell:

Anytime
Shell station outside gate 1 is $1.889. Stopped at luch time and they were selling Plus for the same price since they were out of regular. Maybe after work they'll have high test at the same price if they run out of plus?

Before you guys go busting down Burchmart, you should look at the top of these pages. I don't see Sheetz, Wawa, and BJ's advertising here. I don't see them supporting community organizations with donations, advertising, and manpower the way Burch Oil Company does.

Gas prices need to be competitive. But try to find Louie Sheetz in St. Mary's County, or a Wawa, or BJ's corporation manager, when you need a donation for your Church, kid's soccer team, or the local high school athletic boosters.

Did anyone happen to read in the Emptyprize how Burch Oil is trying to cheat the county governments by breaching a contract they had to provide heating oil for 92 cents a gallon for three years?

They can't get cheap oil any more so they renegged on their contract.

Going Broke on Gas

I can't believe how much gas has jumped this month. More than 20 cents per gallon. At this rate it might be cheaper to walk or ride a bike!!! To top this off since I have Natural Gas for heat, Washington Gas has announced that they will TAX Maryland users $3.50 a month to offset the anticipated cost increase this winter. When will it every end? :nomoney: :tantrum

WOW gas is expensive. It's a bit cheaper up there in Maryland. I think the cheapest I have found it down here is $2.69 :yikes:
