Gas saving device?

I'll go with if it worked it would have been sold or the rights leased to at minimum one of the big three.
Sales with wven a 25% increase in fuel mileage would be a mega huge selling point.
Imagine a 25%+ fuel increase in a fleet of nationwide vehicles...

I dont know if its still there but there used to be a company in Annapolis that worked on improving fuel economy on large combustive engines.
When they found something that even had a minor fuel efficiency say in a Cat diesel for over the road that gave less than a 1/10th of a mile improvement it would be sold to cat for big money.

I say keep your money....

This sounds like the modern equivalent of the water injector devices back in the 60s and 70s. Like BD said, if they really worked as advertised, they wouldn't be selling on a webpage, it would have long since been bought and buried because it's a threat to the oil industry.

I imagine that it slows throttle input, for someone that drives the way I do there would be no savings, for someone with a leadfoot there would be.

I am also guessing it makes your car feel sluggish. That is assuming that it actually can slow down throttle inputs from the ODB II port.

I was thinking if it did anything, it might be playing with the valve and ignition timing. That could gain mileage under the right conditions.

Im sure the engineering with the Big Boys is more efficient than what is offered on the web.
GM has for the most part left Anderson, IN but quite a bit of engineering is still done there.
Lots of electric car and engine testing is done here still. When you drive by you always see heat from some of the roof exhaust ve ts for each envine module running below it.
They all spend loads to get the best performance and lifespan from there engines.

The odds of this one device being able to alter such things via OBD II is pretty slim.

Yeah, after I thought about it, realized it wasn't likely. The device would have to dynamically override the ECM.

Im thinking it does the opposite of this https://pedalcommander.com/

The pedal commander does actually make your car feel more powerful. I have seen quite a few people on tacomaworld.com with the 2.7L 4 banger swear by it. Doesn't increase power, just makes the throttle response more aggressive.

There's a version of this for the Slingshot (2.4 liter GM EcoTec motor), and the few people that bought it seemed to be impressed with the throttle response. I chose to have the ECM reprogrammed instead.

Pedal commander only works in electronic throttle control vehicles. These actually slave in at the gas pedal harness under the dash. Not OBD port. The OEM programs vehicles to have the sluggish throttle response to save fuel. The pedal commander intercepts the commands and changes it before it gets to the computer and finally to the throttle body end result better throttle response. They do work well. I wold be skeptical of anything they plugs into the OBD port and doesn’t reprogram the computer actually working as they advertise.
