Swap the term "broken" with "illness" if it makes you feel better.

My goal here is not to feel better; it’s to understand what you mean. But since you called it an illness, in the same sense as autism, they should be cared for and treated right? What are you proposing we do with these ‘broken’ people or people with this ‘illness’?

Homosexuals and transgender have been preaching for years that they're born that way and that it's not a choice. They should rejoice at any research that proves they're right. Too bad it shows they have an illness. Kind of a double edge sword. Flags probably make them feel better.

You have an illness... It's called Douchebagism...

Since you know some homosexuals, ask them if they want to be classified as mentally ill and receive treatment.

It's a double edge sword. If they say they're homosexual as a choice, then all the bible thumpers say "I told you so". If they say they were born that way, then they're admitting their brain is different. Pick your poison. I guess the 3rd choice is waving flags.

Okay, I get all of that. Not that I agree one bit with what you’re saying; but playing devil’s advocate that gays are ‘broken’ or mentally ill, what are you proposing we do about it? What is your solution to this problem?

I never said being gay is a problem. Parading down the street wearing nothing but a leather g-string and a dog collar is a problem (for anyone who doesn't want to be viewed as a freak). Just go to work and do your job. I have no problem with that.

You said they want to be 'normal' but they aren't, they are broken. You compared them to people with autism or mental illness. Now you're saying they don't have a problem. Are you retracting your comment?

Oh, blow it out your a**. Obviously, my post went over your head. The Rainbow flag isn't even close to the Confederate flag - it's more on par with a sports team's flag or a banner of a particular cause. I wouldn't vote it in, but I don't live in Santa Ana.

I was talking about the nastiness towards people who are Gay. And you know that. I'm glad I don't have the stone cold rotten heart some of you do.

You can try to obfuscate any way you like. But the rainbow flag has no more business on a public building than the Confederate flag does.

you do realize that you are arguing that the rebel flag has no business being flown over a public building, right? :killingme

They're broken. Whether you believe in a creator, or whether you believe in natural selection, it doesn't matter. The job of a species is to reproduce and the only natural way for humans to do that is to insert peg into hole.

Lots of folks are broken. Folks with autism, schizophrenia, etc. Nothing wrong with it, but hanging flags doesn't change the fact that they're still broken.

Not obfuscating anything. My original post was mainly about the hatefulness against Gay people. But, thanks for playing.

Nope - never said they want to be "normal". I said they wanted to be "viewed as normal". They will never be normal. Normal, either by god's plan or by nature's plan, is for humans to reproduce. Flags, laws, and g-strings won't make them normal or change how they're viewed by folks who don't like them.

If you want to be viewed as normal, how about going to work, doing your job, and less g-strings in the middle of the street.

Too bad if I offend anyone by using the term "normal". I know the "don't offend anyone" PC crowd doesn't like that term. Too bad.

What I explained is that not everyone who is Gay parades themselves around as such or participates in the lewd, public behavior as you are describing. My niece goes to work and behaves in your so-called "normal" way. In fact, she is the managing partner of a very well known major chain steakhouse - with her name painted above the entrance door in gold letters. She finished her 2nd year in the top 10% of sales in the COUNTRY. I'm not sure what kind of undergarments she wears, the topic has never come up NOR have I ever seen her wear anything other than respectable clothing. Ever. Even on the beach.

You can go to any Fireman's carnival in the tri-county area and see heterosexuals sucking face and/or making out, with piercings worn to and fro, wearing low cut tops, wearing high cut shorts and behaving in lewd ways.

If you had a family member who was Gay - would you insinuate yourself into their lives by commenting on the way the way they dress, or how they behave in their bedrooms? I'll bet you don't. That's why you come here - where you can post your hateful comments anonymously.

Yeah What the hell is he doing here posting comments that others don't like.

Maybe he just likes to be called names and abused.

He has no right being here. In fact no one with an opposing view should be allowed.

This is a politically correct forum only for those who have "feeeeeeeeeling" , for people who are "different".

Guy's got a helluva nerve

She's probably one of those folks who's always saying we need to have "honest discussions" and as soon as someone says something that goes against the narrative, they're called names.

That's not what I said. He can not like a segment of people. He can even call them names. I am calling him out on the manner in which he refers to Gay people, and people who have disabilities.

I say that he would not talk to a member of his family that way, if they were gay. I am fairly certain he would not use such incendiary language to them. Just as I am fairly certain he would not call a developmentally disabled family member (if he had one) a "retard" to their face or call them a broken human being. I'm also fairly certain he doesn't ask Gay
people he encounters in his life about their bedroom behaviors.

As usual, your mileage may vary.

Where are the hateful comments in this thread?

When my sister was in Medical School at Hopkins back in the 80's, she had a professor who used to do gender reassignment surgery. Back then it was the new cool thing to do. That same professor no longer does the surgery and believes that transgender folks have a mental illness and he works it other ways. He has also concluded that those who have not had the surgery cope better long term. Hateful for him to have that opinion?

We were not talking about transgendered. This thread was about the Gay flag and Gay people.

You should go back to your first posts here, because now you're changing what the focus was. Your first few posts described Gay people (and people with disabilities) in very incendiary terms.
