Gaza in the Bible....

Zephaniah 2:4 Gaza will be abandoned
and Ashkelon left in ruins.
At midday Ashdod will be emptied
and Ekron uprooted.
5 Woe to you who live by the sea,
you Kerethite people;
the word of the Lord is against you,
Canaan, land of the Philistines.
He says, “I will destroy you,
and none will be left.”
6 The land by the sea will become pastures
having wells for shepherds
and pens for flocks.
7 That land will belong
to the remnant of the people of Judah;
there they will find pasture.
In the evening they will lie down
in the houses of Ashkelon.
The Lord their God will care for them;
he will restore their fortunes.
Gaza has changed names but it's still the same strip of land mentioned as early as Genesis.

According to "Got Questions" Gaza is full of strongholds. As a matter of fact, the name "Gaza" means strong.

Gaza was called Azzah back in Genesis. It's associated with the Philistines.

Genesis 10:15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.
Later the Canaanite clans scattered 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.
Do you remember the story of Cain and Abel? The Canaanites were NOT decedents of Cain! The sons of Cain were wiped out in the flood. Canaanites were descendants of Noah's son Ham and grandson Seth. It is possible through, Ham's wife might have been a descendant of Cain's kids.
Just thought I'd pass this along.
