The only U.S. states I have a problem with are in New England. Maybe that's because they are practically soviet?

I wouldn't normally explain this, but since you are known to be slow, here goes:

The Soviets were socialist. The New England states tend to be very left wing. My comment was intended to imply that New England is practically socialist.

If you disagree with me, please ask Ted Kennedy to explain to you his political philosophy.

Why is anyone surprised when 50% of an age group has problems with geography? At least 1/3 got where Louisiana was. All of this stuff makes big news, but most people here are probably familiar with the bell curve. That probably means the average person knows. When your benchmark is only 33% you are leaning toward an entire standard deviation from average. You are a skip away from mentally retarded.

So, should anyone be surprised that 50% of the population can't recognize items that don't occur in their everyday lives? No. Because 49.9% of the population isn't even average.
