Getting published

Anyone ever had anything they've written published? I sent my manuscript to my brother who is involved in the publishing world, but it's been on his desk for almost a year now buried under other more important things . He promised me at Christmas he will look at it when he gets back.

But I'd like to start looking around on my own and I have no clue where to start. Google is overwhemling.

If I were you I'd tell Mom. She'll let Dad know and when he gets home from work he'll fix him.

Yes they do still meet but only once a month.
