Why not just stack the fans front to back instead of on top of each other.. by the time the air gets to the last fan your thrust would be increased by at least sin(ru/18 QT3.14).. poor mans compression turbine.

That reminds me of the multi-stage axial fan setup in my hovercraft.....we had some fun times running around Piney Point in this...
