Giants' Plaxico Burress shot...

Seems he is caught in a downward spiral right now, he better straighten his ass out soon or it could be all she wrote.

...OK, while all that may true, the other problems and troubles he has gotten into, if nothing else, regardless of cause or fault or what he did or didn't do this time around and others, can we put to rest the obviously baseless allegation that he has a tendency to shoot himself in the foot?

No. I stand by the belief that he has a higher than average tendency to shoot himself in the foot. The fact that he was bored with doing that and wanted a little variety, and thus chose in this instance to shoot himself in the thigh instead, does nothing to dissuade me of that belief.

If however, a significant period of time passes in which he:

(1) refrains from shooting himself in the foot, and
(2) continues to shoot himself in various other body parts, then

I will concede that he has changed his ways and no longer has a tendency to shoot himself in the foot. Time will tell.

Plaxico Burress' lawyer said Sunday he was advised that the New York Giants' star receiver will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon after accidentally shooting himself in the right thigh.

Lawyer Benjamin Brafman wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press that Burress will turn himself in Monday morning in New York City and "will enter a plea of not guilty later that same day."

"I do not expect that Mr. Burress will make a statement," Brafman wrote.

He met with Burress for about an hour Sunday at the player's home in New Jersey.

"I would ask that his fans, the Giants and the media withhold judgment in this matter until all of the facts have been disclosed," Brafman wrote to the AP.

Brafman is a well-known criminal lawyer who has defended mobsters and other high-profile figures, including hip-hop impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs on a bribery and gun possession

Why do you think that? It isn't against the law to watch a goober shoot himself in the leg:lol:

...if Pierce gets in trouble, it'll be for what Pierce did or didn't do, not anyone else.

Pierce, 30, rushed to his bleeding teammate and applied pressure to the wound as Burress screamed in pain amid the hip-hop beats piping through the club, sources said. As he worked to slow the bleeding, Pierce berated Burress for bringing a loaded handgun into a club.

Panicking, Burress told his teammate not to call 911 for an ambulance, sources said.

Pierce helped the bloodied receiver out of the club before taking off with the gun and stashing it somewhere in New Jersey, sources said.

A Giants rep left Washington yesterday to retrieve the gun in New Jersey and turn it over to investigators, police said.

Still, cops plan to get a warrant to search Pierce's car because they believe Burress had the gun in his vehicle.

I was just watching the MNF pre-game commentary. Stuart Scott was apparently talking about a book that Plaxico Burress wrote. I believe he said that, in the book, Plaxico indicated that he owned guns to protect his family. Stuart then went on to say that Plaxico also indicated that he always kept the guns and ammunition separate.

WTF? How in the world do guns help protect your family if they are kept separate from the ammunition? Is someone going to let you know that you are about to be the victim of a crime? An unloaded gun that is intended to be used for self-defense is probably more likely to get you hurt than it is to save your life. And if somehow it gives you a false sense of security, that's even worse.

Did anybody else hear what Stuart said - I'm hoping I heard him wrong?

I heard that too. Burress lied in his book, no shocker there.

I also heard that gun grabber Tony Sarguso on the sidelines talking something about how "if you think you need to carry a gun because the area is so bad, then you shouldn't be going to that area..."

He's a tool...

...don't you think that is a bit presumptuous on your part? Do you honestly think that that is a fair and accurate thing to say? I mean, OK, the guy does this, the guy does that, but, to sit there and make such a blanket statement is, to me, going a good bit too far.

I mean, do you honestly think he wrote that book?

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. I heard them saying on ESPN last night that the charges against Burress hold a mandatory 3 1/2 years jail time.

I then heard Bloomberg saying that he thought it would be a travesty of justice if Burress walks because of who he is...

Everybody knows what kind of gun grabber Bloomberg is.

Did you hear his agent talking during halftime though? That's a tool.
His response to Tony Kornheiser's question, "Do you think he effed up?": "I will not discuss this publicly with you. In private, I will, but not publicly."
