Global Warming REDUCES hurricane threat

So, let me get this straight. Now they're saying the fact that there are fewer hurricanes is the result of Global Warming?

Now I'm really starting to think this Global Warming thing is a bunch of :bs:
msnbc.com said:
WASHINGTON - Global warming could reduce how many hurricanes hit the United States, according to a new federal study that clashes with other research. The new study is the latest in a contentious scientific debate over how manmade global warming may affect the intensity and number of hurricanes.

In it, researchers link warming waters, especially in the Indian and Pacific oceans, to increased vertical wind shear in the Atlantic Ocean near the United States. Wind shear — a change in wind speed or direction — makes it hard for hurricanes to form, strengthen and stay alive.

So that means "global warming may decrease the likelihood of hurricanes making landfall in the United States," according to researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Miami Lab and the University of Miami.

They're trying to have it both ways now. :smack:

Let me make sure I've got this straight

Global Warming causes:
  • Stronger hurricanes
  • Weaker hurricanes
  • More hurricanes
  • Less hurricanes
  • Warmer temperatures
  • Cooler temperatures
  • More rain
  • Less rain
  • More snow
  • Less snow
  • Expansion of the polar ice caps
  • Extinction of the polar ice caps
  • Floods on the East and West coasts
  • Droughts on the East and West coasts
  • Heavy wind
  • No wind
Is there anything else?

Has anyone heard from truby lately, she might be able to clear my mind on all of this :bs:

Wait, I did forgot something. It's all George Bush's fault. :jameo:

Thats because Its not even really global warming...

Its just, the climate doing what a climate does... CHANGES!!!!!

It changed with us, it changed without us... All we have to do is learn to adjust.

So, Barak Obama is responsible for the weather changes? And not Global Warming? Is Obama the stud or what?

I wonder what the hurricane prediction will be for this year. Considering the last 2 years have been mild, even though they said we would have the worst seasons on record. I wonder what Gore will say about this?

Andy i think you might be on to something, it looks as if they cant explain the reasons for smallest change in climate, so they just blame it on global warming.

And despite that, homeowners insurance rates have more than doubled in coastal Carolina (and I'm sure all up and down the east coast). We haven't seen hurricane damage since Isabel. :ohwell:

Predicting an overall hurricane season ain't easy.

It's a lose lose for the National Hurricane Center. If they predict a lower than average hurricane season, people let their guard down and when the big one hits (if it hits), it's their fault. If they predict another bad season and end up with a whimper, their credibility is unjustly forever shot.

They’re finding now that the biggest contributor to temperature changes on earth, is actually… drum roll… the sun. Surprise. It’s actually pretty neat: the energy put out by the sun creates an atmosphere like envelope around the earth and other planets (how many, I don’t know).

Anyhow, this envelope protects the earth from various objects flying through space, and, I think, bursts of energy from other stars. Well, because the sun is just a prolonged explosion, there are variations in the temperature coming from the sun, guess what it does? It heats up the earth, then when that particular burst dies down, the earth down.

Shocking, I know. It hardly makes sense. lol. But when you really think about it, it’s amazing that there is any life on earth at all. When you consider that there is a variation in temperature that is at the most 150 degrees on earth at any given time (that’s just an approximation, not hard fact). And when you look at planets like Mars, where the temperature variance between night and day is 300+ degrees, this piddley average of 10 deg difference between 1973 and now, is laughable.

s'what I read on a cereal box anyway.

It's cool to note that the Nobel Peace Prize sharing scientists are like the NOAA guys in Boulder, Colorado. Their entire premise is based on a man-invented computer model. The NOAA guys in Miama, Florida base their premise on observation of actual events and measurements. PLUS the Miami guys have to live through these hurricanes. Boulder just has to live through 18 inches of powder on 36 inches of pack.

Three words: Act of God.

Scientists are unable to explain what's causing these hurricanes to explode into killer storms so fast.

So, it's Global Warming.

And when the amount and strength of storms decreases: it's global warming. :lmao:

Global warming is a mythological term for Natural Weather Patterns, isn't it? Just another way for socialists to blame Republicans and for Europe to blame America for everything.

So if next year's hurricane season turns out to be some kind of record breaker - does THAT mean global warming is a crock?

Or will they change their mind again?
