GM Recall on 6.2L V8

I mentioned this a while back. A former forumite had the AFM Delete done on his. I've been using transmission override to keep it out of V4 (AFM) Mode and staying after frequent oil changes.
A range disabler will keep it out of V4 mode. A delete is the preferable option but might not be feasible for everyone.

Sadly, IMO all brands aren't what they used to be. Hydraulic lifters are widely used and they are failing, early. Say what you want about RAM and the Cummins, but the Cummins diesel was always a good motor. Now it has hydraulic lifters and problems are arising.
It’s a lubrication issue, lack of good maintenance or just pure luck of the draw for lifter failure. I have a 6.2 with AFM with 200k on it and never had an issue. I always let the engine warm up before driving and change oil 3-3500 miles.

GM's Active Fuel Management system paired with the 5.3's hydraulic lifters that are designed for the AFM are not a good mix. The lifters are failing when the engine isn't under load while AFM is activated. Last year I bought a Silverado with the baby duramax diesel in it, no longer have it for other reasons but when I bought it I was talking to the GM and a mechanic at the dealer and they said stay away from the 5.3 and 6.2.
NOTE: Never buy a new Diesel ever the restrictions on the motor from the BS EPA mandated exhaust system will kill the engine by making it work harder than it has to

Nope I'd build my own .. my Aviator is nice and spicy
I have 2 diesels a 08 F250 when the emission BS first came out somehow all that stuff magically disapeared and when looking for a another truck to tow our 12,000 5th wheel I did some research and ended up buying a 07 DRW F350 with 12434 miles on it in 2016 and put a 4 inch exhaust from the turbo back on it and had a couple things done to it to save the 6.0 from self destruction so far I have never had any major problems with either one yet, the new diesels with their cost the cost of fuel and DEF is not worth it to me.

Nope, Raptor R has a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine.
Gen 1s had the 6.2, I've had mine for 12 years and it's been great to me, and I beat the hell out of it. I have been trying to get a Raptor R for months and can't find one that isn't disgustingly overpriced.....the dealership in PF told me they could'n't even get one.

Thank you all for the info.
I currently have a 2024 Chevy Silverado 5.3.
Would you guys recommend the "Boost" to disable the AFM?

I would recommend having the AFM deleted, I know that’s not feasible for most people , myself included as there aren’t any shops here I would trust. I went with the range disabler and that’s what I would recommend. No experience with others.

The recall has been updated. GM is rescinding the change in oil viscosity as a "fix" as per Rainman Ray's Repairs, couldn't find a confirmation.

So according to this guy, checking for codes or changing the oil is out. Techs are now looking at the engine manufacture date. If within specified dates, replace the engine. Outside those dates no action, not even oil swap.
