GM is in deep weeds. They've lost all credibility between the 5.3 AFM/DOD issue, the 10-speed tranny failure and now this. Could the cost of the recalls bankrupt them?

So according to this guy, checking for codes or changing the oil is out. Techs are now looking at the engine manufacture date. If within specified dates, replace the engine. Outside those dates no action, not even oil swap.

There are actually 3 parts to this recall. 1. Dealer inventory check for code for cam/crank mismatch, if have code replace engine, if no code oil and filter change with 0w40, new filler cap and manual insert. Customers cars get the same inspection and oil change, if no codes the engine gets an extended warranty, I believe 10 years. 150,000 miles. During all this they inspect the date of manufacture sticker on the back of drivers side cylinder head, if engine manufactured date is after 24184 no action taken, keep using 0w-20 oil and trike on.

No one has been able to confirm any extended warranty.
