Going to Vegas

Probably pretty close. It's about 250 miles, but wide open highway. Rent something you can DRIVE!
I would recommend you spend the money on a rental car rather than a bus tour. With a bus tour, you are at the mercy of too many variables...(condition of bus, type of crowd, where/when bus choses to leave/stop, etc.) The drive was awesome as the scenery was constantly changing. Note... fill up on gas BEFORE you get to town of Williams and beyond towards the canyon. they bump up the price of fuel big time because they know you have no choice once you get to that point.

Food for thought... you have to drive over the Hoover Dam in order to get to the canyon from Vegas... you could leave early in the morning, hit the dam... then keep on truckin' to the canyon. There are places to stay very near the canyon if you want to do an overnighter in that area. We did that and it was well worth it.

you really need to do the rollercoasters on top of the stratosphere!! that outta keep ya busy for a while.

The roller coaster was being removed in February of last year and being replaced with another ride which should be complete by now one would think. Its some ride that pushes you around the top of the tower at a quick pace but looks like it would be fun as well. :yay:

I just got back on Sunday from Vegas.

I would go to the Freemont Street experience for one thing. It is a great light show, and the music is good. It is in "Old Vegas". Make sure to take a cab there, and not walk. To get there it is some nasty neighborhoods.

If you are going with the wife/so do the gondola rides at the Venetian. Earn some serious brownie points with the wife/so.

The shops at Alladian(sp) are under construction, but still open. That is a indoor shopping mall. The customer service people are on segways because of the size of the shopping area.

I wanted to go horseback riding in Red Rock Canyon, but it was so cold there that I couldn't stand to be outside that long.
