I would just think Bobby would be super careful about everything these days, but like you said, no way he can measure every crab coming in. That is up to the guys on the boat. Right?

Yep. The various boats come in and report their catch as they offload. Catch counts are simply by grade and bushel and those bushels head straight to the walk-in refrigerator. They leave from same refrigerator on to the delivery truck each day. Some bushels also show up via truck from other locations and are handled the same way.

Whoever introduced those smalls in to the "system" is definitely going to pay a price for doing that. Some of those guys are barely getting by, and that's painful to see, but that is never an excuse to screw your buyer.

Smart boy. "Excuses" are easy when its simply a case of having facts trump lousy journalism and ignorant bystanders.

The former case, history, and the present day fine for small crabs that nobody laid eyes on except the person(s) that actually caught them, are related , how exactly? Furthermore, surely you can explain how the legal troubles the Lumpkins kid got in to, or the legal actions taken by Robert and other watermen against the state over the years, have squat to do with the DNR crab story. Thanks.

Or, we could just agree it was another typical broad-brush smear by a small person with a long reputation for doing little else.

I already know this much...the "crew" that brought in those undersized crabs is definitely getting a reaming....might be a firing involved too.
A convicted poacher is fined for violating fish and game laws and you really have to ask how they are related? Seems you are far from a 'smart boy'. Same thing with the legal actions he took against the PRFC.

The only thing that doesn't relate are the sons drug charges. However, the author indicates the son is/was in business with the father. That could make him part of the story. The 'today' has always been a rag, but that doesn't make the story untrue.

Yes, how are they related? Be specific...show that you know something of the business operations and are not your usual knee-jerk pitch-fork-and-torch carrier.

He is a convicted poacher. He got fined for violating fish and game laws.

I can't dumb it down any more than that. I guess you were protesting about poor little Trayvon's past being dragged up too..... oh that's right, you weren't :killingme

This is exactly why I usually dont bother to even try to have a conversation with you. Talk about obtuse.

Like I said, it can't be dumbed down any further. If you can't get in when it is put in those terms you are too stupid to get it. Its a wonder you remember to breathe.

How are they not related?

If you have absolutely no idea how crabs are caught, transferred and sold, how many, and by whom, you might indeed wonder.

Whoever put those undersized crabs on the dock is definitely in for some trouble; at the very least will be looking for another job or another place to sell their catch.

the guy who sold them is the one who got the fine and who the state finds is responsible. he is also the guy previously found guilty of a similar crime.

Besides, there is nothing that even says he is going to be able to determine who brought in the baskets with the small crabs.

That's sorta what the article said..Chic's in Hagerstown, could be fined up to $2000. Chic's had previous violations for small crabs?

Richard Carroll Herzog, 53, of Hagerstown faces a maximum fine of $2,000 if found guilty of both charges in Washington County District Court.
