Anyone know a good auto repair shop in St. Mary's? General repairs, oil change, tune up, brakes? I tried to ask this question before and out of the over 100 posts only 3 recommended a repair shop. There were more posts about Pork Chops and how great Toyotas are, just give me the names of some shops. PLEASE!

Cheseldines near Walmart. They know their stuff, they're honest, and if it ain't broke they don't fix it.

Years back I took my car in to have the brakes serviced. I told them what I thought they needed and that I only had like $400 on me so could they please let me know if it was going to go over that amount. I think it came to maybe $50 or some really low figure and what I had complained about was fixed. Furthermore, what I said I wanted done, they said didn't need to be done - there was still plenty of wear left (or words to that effect).

I've been elsewhere around here. Most of the time if I said I only had $400 - the bill miraculously came to $400. Odd.

We've always been very happy with Guy Motors in Mechanicsville. Used to live within a mile, so it was very convenient, but still use them even though we are 30 minutes away.

I've always had good luck with Hewitt's next to the bowling alley across from CiCi's.

Take it to St. Mary's Automotive,Callaway MD. Jeff is good, he only fixes what needs to be fix and will notify you of the cost before he starts to work on it.
He stands by his work, if it's not fix after he's worked on it he'll tell you to bring it back and he'll make it right.

I would recommend Cheseldine Tire and Auto. Dave is great, always willing to talk through a problem with you before any work gets done.

Jeff is great too. He did my exhaust system for $700 less than what I was quoted at another shop. When he fixed my brakes for me one time, I ended up giving him a call because they were making strange noises. He offered to drive out to meet me to see if it was something they needed to look at right away.

I also recommend Chesaldines. I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and they are very honest.

I first used them when I moved to the area about 15 years ago. I took my car in for inspection, and they found NOTHING wrong. So other than a minimal charge for doing the inspection, there were no extra charges.

I've also had good luck with Cheseldines and Guy Motors in Mechanicsville. Have only had oil changes done at Cheseldines, Guy Motors actually did some repairs for me. They were always honest about what needed to be done, the cost, and whether or not it was worthwhile to get things fixed.

Cheseldine's is great, I know that they are completely honest when it comes to repairs and customer satisfaction is important. Nobody anywhere is perfect but it there is ever a problem afterwards (defective part etc) they stand behind there work.

Park Sunoco. Very honest, and very reasonable.

And tina might be able to give you some advice on your eggplants lol

Agree with Park Sunoco, Tina and Jay, and recommend them.

Nothing bad to say about any others, just good to say about them.

P.S.: I'll be sure to ask Tina about eggplants next time as well.

I had two guys in my office recommend them. I went there after a chain store said I needed new struts and quoted me a price of $1,000. I read online some of the checks you could do to see if they needed to be replaced. They didn't seem bad to me but I took it to Park Sunoco for peace of mind since I was going on a trip. They told me there wasn't a thing wrong with them and sent me on my way. I have a truck that needs some work and that's where i'll be going.

Cheseldines is great.

I usually use Jippy Lube for oil changes. But don't use them for anything else and keep an eye on them while they're doing the work! Several years ago I had my MR2 in for an oil change and on impulse asked them to balance the front wheels. I had to stop them from trying to rotate the tires from front to rear. The MR2 has larger tires on the rear than on the front. The kid doing the work was oblivious.
